Just got back from our spring break road trip from Minnesota to the FL keys and Disney. 4204.4 miles. 187.425 gals of fuel. 22.4 mpg average. Best tank 25.46. Worst 20.52. Lots of headwinds. 75-80 speeds. Truck loaded with family of 4 and full bed of stuff.

My truck is a xlt 302a 4x4 supercrew with 3.31 locking rear

Couldn't be happier.

Can't complain much about that there. Overall it looks good for traveling at those speeds.
Do you have a bed cover? Stock sized tires, no lift?
I recently did a trip, highway mileage was hand calculated @25.5 mpg (digital dash display showed 27.2 mpg) , 75 mph, typical north country long steep hills. Enclosed bed, stock tires and suspension. I swapped out my fuel tank a while back to a 40 gal. (5.5 bed) and its nice to not have to worry about long trips and stopping for fuel.
Great truck so far!

No, can't complain. I have a Leer topper and stock tires and suspension. Everything is stock. Not sure if the topper helps or hurts mpgs. Got it soon after I picked up the truck.

I wouldnt think that the topper would hurt your mileage, as long its not an open bed. That was a MPG killer from the old days.

Here's what my '21 did... all highway with cruise set at 65 mph. 727 mi / 22 gallons = 33.04 mpg (no payload other than myself) BTW, the onboard dash computer read 34.2 mpg.

The highest I got was a little under 35 mpg from Asheville, NC to Nashville, TN. I average 14-16 mpg pulling our camper. We pull a 26 foot, 6800lb travel trailer and would like to get more than 350 miles on a tank. Which is nothing to scoff at. My father-in-law drives an '18 2500 Cummins and had very similar mpgs (very similar weight campers) as us when we pulled our campers to Myrtle Beach.

Where did you get the 40 gallon tank and how much did it cost all in? Did you need a different sending unit?
