I believe those tires were from the 70s. Also a piece of crap tire.Weren't they the Firestone 721's ?
Yeah I've been considering replacing the stock Wrangler HTs with these Generals. A recent tirerack comparison seemed to say these were the most well-rounded of the bunch. Overall it performed as well as the Michelin Defenders except that they criticized the Defenders to being too taut and being able to feel every bump in the road. The Generals were smoother but with similar dry and wet track results and better steering inputs. The new general grabber HT is supposed to be great and reasonably priced.
After having to have the General Grabber HTS tires replaced on our new '24 Expedition right off the lot, I would not look at Generals again! This wasn't my first bad experience with General's either!Yeah I've been considering replacing the stock Wrangler HTs with these Generals. Go on tire rack.com, select those tires, and read the testing done on them.I currently have stock Hankook Dynapros on 20" stock rims. They are almost worn put on the outer side of the all tires. So seraching on Costco I found three choices that i could put on : Michelin Defender LTX MS2 , BFG Trail Terrain T/A , Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent.
Which of these do you recommend? I driving is mostly city (15-25 miles daily), highway (100-200 miles once a month) and dirt road (10-20 miles once a month). PLease advice! I like how the stock hankook dynapros ride, Mileage is decent as well.
Would love to see a picture of that tire on your truck!!If you’d like to drive without annoying your neighbors with the noise from your tires (and maintain the radio volume at a civilized level,) your sole choice is the Defender LTX.
Quiet, long-lasting and rounder than either of your other choices, the Defender LTX also provides the greatest safety margins with its superior wet-weather and snow capabilities.
I’m delighted with the 295/70R18’s I’m running on OEM rims. I’m completely gum-dipped with this tire!
We don't really get snow. We get ice. Nobody can drive on ice without proper equipment and nobody has that in the south.I won't make fun of you southerners for how you react to your 1/2 inch of snow every decade or two since I just hide inside any time it's 85 and humid.![]()
Even in the north, even with the right equipment, most can't drive on ice. It seems many never figured out that the s**t is slippery. Especially those with 4WDWe don't really get snow. We get ice. Nobody can drive on ice without proper equipment and nobody has that in the south.
