Good to know. I have some new bolts ordered. Just so I know, are the current original bolts over torqued, which contribute to them breaking?

I’m just curious to see if this replacement process with proper torque values will “prolong” their life compared to current.

I replaced mine a couple weekends back out of precaution. Took no time at all to do it. One thing I wanted to know was what the final torque was on these. I set the wrench to 52 and then incrementally increased 10 ft.lbs at a time while continuing to the 90 degree turn. Final torque ended up at 120. Not sure what long term impact doing this will be but at least I know they are now at the recommended torque.

Probably not a bad idea to have a spare set lying around so if one snaps I can drill it and pull it out to replace it.

I think if doing that it'd be interesting to use a depth micrometer and record the dimension from the hub face where the washer bears to the recessed end of the axle shaft. Then, IF the bolt breaks, re-measure to see if / how much the axle shaft has withdrawn from the hub assembly.

I have a 2022 HDPP + Max tow, and this has me concerned.

Where would I find the bolts?

My truck just rolled over 1500 miles. I did a lift/wheels and tires at 400

About to tow a 6-8k trailer from Dallas to Tulsa and back

Thank you!

I did a few quick searches, and now I have even more questions

This bolt comes back as several different parts, and it looks the same as the galvanized bolts that hold bumper brackets or Headlights in LOTS of cars/vans/trucks

You are wrong.

Here's a post-direct link showing the complete part number: https://www.f150forum.com/f129/2021...-axle-bolt-sheared-515460/index2/#post7130913

On a different forum but IMO ^that's^ the most comprehensive single thread on the topic.

Here's the Tasca page returned when site-searched by that PN: Bolt And Washer Assembly Hex.Head ML3Z19S426A | TascaParts.com

Tasca seems to do a good job of redirecting when a PN has been superseded, note that as of this date none is mentioned.

Thank you for the links, and the gentle correction 😊

Went through and ordered a pair of bolts, just in case. My Method center caps come off pretty easy, so I can keep an eye out for issues.

From reading through several other threads, as well as the linked one, it seems most issues are 2021, with a few 2022s. Mine was built in August 2022, I guess we shall see...

You guys are getting like me carrying spare hoses, starters, fuel and water pumps in the back trunk of my old jalopy :p

All joking aside, I actually had to replace a fuel pump one time at a car show about 15 years ago. I felt like a hero because I had the part ‘in stock’

You probably noted that the few 2022MY failure reports seem to be early-date builds (e.g. late calendar year 2021 build dates).

Like you, with my May 2022 build date, I'm keeping my fingers crossed (and doing nothing by way of attempt to 'pre-empt' anything) ..... ;)(y)

After two long-ago quick-succession COP failures on my 2005 F150 I started carrying spares (they're small). haven't needed one since (knock on wood), they're still there in the console

Nope, no spares (or tools) in my 2022, just the cell-phone and credit card in my pocket (y)

That’s a good feeling for the ‘22! I’m the same with mine.
Every other car I have not so much lol
