I removed it for a few reasons:
I think they are ugly.
I think it makes the truck appear taller in front , I have a 3 1/4” rake on my truck.
I plan to put a tremor or aftermarket front skid plate on.
The active air dam was a few bolts and wiring harnesses that needed disconnected. I found a video on YouTube of how to remove it. I cut the fixed air dam at the crease in it with a utility knife, leaving about 1” still on and the portion covering the tow hooks. Was it easy to do? I have a XLT and when I went under it looked like two different levels of an airdam..
Can you post close up pics of the that area like the part you cut..The active air dam was a few bolts and wiring harnesses that needed disconnected. I found a video on YouTube of how to remove it. Did you have any issues with the window rain guards? I just bought the AVS ones and they do not let my windows roll up. When I roll the windows up the window stops because the corners of the window guard is popped out. So I have to push the windows guard out from the outside of the door while I roll up. What a mess!!!!Next round of mods includes AVS window visors, weather tech under seat storage, and front air dam removal.
I did have problems, I had to trim and notch all of the corners with some side cuts until the fit and the windows cleared.Did you have any issues with the window rain guards? I talked to AVS and they sent me pics of where to install it. So that trim on the back side of the window in the front windows the flange slides in there. Then on the back windows it is the front part. That worked and now my windows go up and down..I did have problems, I had to trim and notch all of the corners with some side cuts until the fit and the windows cleared.
Lmao would be nice if they included that in the instructions. I just clipped the corners, it felt like they were just a little too large to fit correctly. Sometimes they trigger the windows to roll back down in the front. I need to run the window learning procedure at some point. Dealer wants $179 to do it.I talked to AVS and they sent me pics of where to install it. So that trim on the back side of the window in the front windows the flange slides in there. If they are in a window of purchase tell them it cracked as you rolled them up.. That is what happened to mine in the front, so I took a pic and sent it to them.. The tech I talked to knew right away what I was talking about.Lmao would be nice if they included that in the instructions. Looks awesome, you painting or leaving black?Installed the Air Designs/Ford Accessories appearance package finally! Fender flares, door moldings, hood scoop, and tailgate panel.
This is a CLEAN looking truck. I always said that if I lived in a warmer climate I would do Silver with chrome. Unfortunately, I live in CT where it snows and I feel like the chrome would deteriorate after multiple winters.Very nice build. Can I ask why you removed the front air dam?
I have a 2021 iconic also.
How easy are they to remove once installed? I'd like the storage for day to day things but if taking my dogs anywhere I'd prefer the floor space for them after folding the rear seats upI like it, it has a stock appearance when the seats are down. It works perfectly with my full size factory floor mat in the back. I have some car care stuff on one side for when I go to the car wash, a small husky tool bag with a 12v Milwaukee drill and impact kit, and a couple other tools. The larger compartment has a decent size craftsman socket and wrench set, ratchet straps, and tire repair kit. Holds what I need it to. Only drawback I have with it is I can’t put a subwoofer under the back seat now.
There is only a strap that wraps around one seat bracket that needs unbuckled and you can remove it.How easy are they to remove once installed? I'd like the storage for day to day things but if taking my dogs anywhere I'd prefer the floor space for them after folding the rear seats up
