Load Range E Tire Pressure

Wondering what psi everyone is running in their load range E tires? I currently have K02’s that are rated at 80psi max cold and I am running them at 50psi when unloaded. Is this good/bad/personal taste?

Dealership had them at 40psi when they installed the tires at delivery but I felt like that was really low for an 80psi max cold rating.

Half the people on the internet say run them at 35 psi like it says in the door, and half say run it at 50 psi so I split the difference and run mine at 45 psi cold.

I was always told use normal 40 psi for everyday use but if your going to max load or towing use 80 psi cold on load E range tires

I don't go to 80 when hauling heavy, I go to about 60 on tires, and put air bags to about 60 as well. Did it when hauling 1 ton of pellets for pellet stove and it worked well. kept it level. Tires I believe can handle 3500ish pounds at 80psi...

The 4Runner I drive occasionally has K02 tires and I bel that they are the E rated ones.

The rating is less for the higher payload as it is for a tougher sidewall that can better resist rocks and debris while off-roading.

A higher rated tire won't help with your axle strength, so stick with rated payload.

Some of the LT truck tires have sidewalls like birthday balloons and many have found it out the hard way, myself included. Though they can get better MPG.

I run the door PSI and sometimes a little higher but a chalk test can tell you how your contact patch is at different PSI.

When Discount Tire installed LT285/60r20, they put them at 45psi cold and they feel the same as the stock Hankooks did when at 35psi when commuting or regular driving. When I recently towed at full capacity, they didn't look like they had any additional weight on them at that same pressure. I was temped to add some air when towing, but the load charts here: https://tirepressure.com/lt285-60r20-tire-pressure (this site could be outdated) show that at 45psi they can handle up to 4800lbs which is well over the axle load limits for this truck.

I really haven't noticed any. Maaaaybe 1 mpg. Hard to tell to be honest. With the OEM tires, GPS said the speedo was off. With these tires, the speedo now matches GPS.

My 295/60/20 ridge grapplers are at 35 psi and have a really rough ride, how is yours at45 psi?

I'm running Geolandar G015 and they don't feel much different than the stock Hankooks.

I run Michelin Defender LTX M/S (275 /70 R18) E rated tires on my truck. I've experimented a lot with pressure, and have found 40 to be the sweet spot when I'm not towing. Much more than 40, the drive becomes very unpleasant...I can feel literally every rock on the road. Less than 40, the ride feels mushy.

When towing, I put them to 50 PSI. Works great.

personally I find the the higher the load range the tire is the more air pressure I have to run.
