That’s the sweetest truck I have seen, I have exact same truck built and waiting to be shipped, hopefully have it in May, with these shutdowns and all!
I have the same build and color options. I've had 3 F150's with the same color scheme and get compliments all the time. Should be in my PB by May with a little (lot) of luck!

I am debating getting a short bed or std bed, any one have experience with both and can give me their impressions good or bad driving, towing, parking, etc? I recognize some of this might be obvious but I'd figured I ask because you don't know what you don't know.
My 2018 was a short be. For my needs, a 6.5' bed beats out the 5.5' every time. I do woodworking and that extra foot makes a big difference as far as carrying plywood and long boards.

I also do a lot of camping and long drives. I am 6' tall; it's nice to know that I can sleep in the back of my truck if I have to or want to, to watch the stars at night in and around Big Bend.

Driving it is almost identical to the short bed. I generally park away from stores anyways, but I have not had a problem with parking. I have noticed my truck sticking out a little bit further if I don't back it in.

It is amazing how often I said, "If I only had another foot," with my 2018 short bed. This is why when I upgraded to 2021, I went with the 6.5' bed, and I don't plan on going back.

I drove 8 footers from the time I was 16. Handy vehicle for carrying various loads and most stuff would fit within the walls of the box.
I bought my first shortbed in the mid 90s, a 78 K-10 4x4. ( a lifetime of square bodies—still have one) great for maneuvering in city traffic, but ride was stiffer. Payload was great, but nothing longer than 6’ feet fit within the walls.

From 2005 to present, I drove a Ranger with the short bed (hard pressed to call that a pickup) and my 98 K1500 4x4. Also with the 6’box and specifically within the last few years, the bed lengths did nothing but aggravate me —nothing fits.

my new one, 21 F150 Supercab, 8 ft, will not give that gripe.

not sure if you are looking at 5.5 vs 6.5 or 6.5 vs 8

shorter boxes makes it easier to maneuver in traffic, park, back up shorter trailers, drag trailers in tighter conditions, etc.

longer boxes make maneuvering a bit more challenging, but the ride is nicer, and more stuff fits within the box.

I am rural and seldom have to deal with city traffic or parking, but if I have to go to the city and park in confined areas my shorter k1500 is much more “tight spot” friendly—that and I don’t care if someone dings it with a car door or a bumper swipe.

decide what your usage is and go from there.
a 6.5 Crew cab is nearly as long as the 8’ extended cab
and neither one of these are garage friendly.

It also depends on what you're towing. For me, gooseneck horse trailer is barely manageable with a 6'4" bed and impossible with the short bed.

When I got my Supercrew 6.5' bed home and parked it next to my Quad Cab, Long Bed Dodge, It looks like they are pretty much twins as far as length.

Because the crew cab standard bed truck is simply too long for most buyers. A 157" F150 won't even fit in most garages built more than 25 yrs ago, not to mention the additional hassle of getting around town in a truck that's 20.5 ft long. This is why short bed trucks came into being.

That said, I need the standard bed for a camper that I'm getting eventually, so I'll be ordering the extended cab to save 13 inches.
Yeah
I would like to get a popup camper to
FWC or northstar. And it’s just the wife and I. Kids are grown

I’ve had my truck 5 days. I didn’t have to wait but 4 months. I’m a very particular gear head and I’m extremely pleased with this one. There is not a thing that I don’t like about it.

It’s a loaded Powerboost Lariat without a roof. Trailer tow...not Max tow. Propower 7200.
I‘ve added TImbren “springs” to assist in towing my Opus OP15.

Installed a 2” level so I now have a 1.5” rake.

I had Cooper Discover A/T3 XLTs in 295/70/17 mounted on 2019 Raptor beadlock capable wheels. The 34mm+ offset is perfect. The tires and wheels would have fit with no rub without a level. Speedometer is off 2mph.......I can live with that.

Here’s a few pics.....I know I enjoyed all of your posts while I was waiting on mine!
And, a shout out to my brother‘s dealership....McLane Ford of Fredricksburg Tx.......awesome Ford store!

I guess it's just a sign that I'm too damn old.

I don't "get" the whole "Land Yacht" thing.

Too me... if you can't reach over your shoulder and touch your rear window, you're driving an SUV with a bed.

I KNOW... I'm in an extreme minority considering that only 5% of Ford trucks are sold with Regular Cabs and MOST of those are White V6 Fleet trucks with roll up windows and AM radios.

But... this is America and it you want look for and acre of land to turn your truck around, more power too you!

I have to admit, some of those Land Yachts are a work of art.
