Repaired the leaking front pinion seal last year.
Doing my oil change noticed what looks like a bunch of grease on right side of axle.

Possibly this was grease from when they put front end back together and just made a mess?

If it was leaking wouldn't it be leaking same fluid as differential?

It's definitely thick like grease so I'm confused.

Just relax and watch it over time
If your fluid level stays the same and your getting no slinging of fresh lubricants on truck or dripping on floor no worries

Dust seals look fine on the bearings. No fluid is leaking. Does look to me like they used grease to put back together and just left it there. Especially that bit on the back side far from end. No evidence of it slinging off. Wiped it off and took pic of it so I'll reference that later when I check again.

Ah, that is what I was thinking. Looks like it was taken apart and no care used on the cleanup. What was it apart for? That appears to just be some shoddy work. Didn't see a mention for any work being done on it.

Front differential pinion seal replaced last year after leaking. I'm assuming they took it apart doing that. 🤷‍♂️

Likely, pulling the pinion requires removal of everything. Probably greased up the shafts before putting them back in. Using gear oil would have been a better choice, grease just attracts and holds dirt when not cleaned off.

That's not appearing to be a real active leak. But it is concerning of course. I would wipe it down good and clean it up with some brake clean and get everything nice and dry, then monitor it. Maybe engage 4x4 on a straight highway run once in a while to see what happens.

Mine is leaking at the same seal on my 2022 lariat on the passenger side. The fluid is sprayed all over the bottom of the truck and it leaves a small puddle under the truck. Its going to the dealer tomorrow. I guessing it is a warranty item.

That is certainly interesting. I don't have anything really leaking just was globs of grease. Seen several threads here for the leaking pinion seal as mine had but not anything on this area leaking.

That is what I'd expect to see from a real leak. 😳
That sucks man, dealer should get it fixed up under the powertrain warranty.
