Only 795 miles on the truck and the O/2 sensor trips the engine light..
2 days at the dealers and of course they don't have the part..
They tell me drive it till the part comes in that it won't cause damage..
From what I've always heard this isn't true, so it's parked until they call me back for repairs.
Not a good start for a month old truck..

If it is a p0420, go ahead and drive it.
That code is just saying the cat ain’t working right.
That sensor is after the cat

The sensors in front of the cat, I believe, can make runability changes.

UPDATE:
O/2 sensor isn't available, it has been escalated
to Ford Customer Care..
Could be 2 weeks, the dealership will not guarantee me that it won't damage the vehicle to drive it..
So mad I can't see straight

That’s really frustrating.

Are they not at least offering you a loaner rig while they await the warranty repair???

Ford Customer Care has offered 10 days of a rental car for free..
I have several vehicles so I'll pass on that..
Hoping this is resolved quickly..
I have a mechanic friend say he doubts it's the sensor.. Thinks it's something else triggering
the sensor error.. Says he will be surprised if that
fixes the issue..
My fingers are crossed it's just that simple..

I would definitely not drive the vehicle at all. The ecu knows it cannot control adjust the air/fuel mixture properly and is too lean which can result in detonation aka knock. I would leave it at the dealer and insist on a loaner.

I'm really surprised with all of these issues. The powertrain hasn't changed much on these vehicles with the exception of the power boost.

Even if you don't need/want the loaner, them paying for it is likely motivation to get your truck fixed faster!

That's true...
Talked to them again today, same story part not available until Feb 9th.
That means another week to get part and truck fixed..
If it goes a month they will make a truck payment.
I don't have any payments..

Post catalyst sensors do not affect the operation of the engine. They’re there for emissions equipment health. It’s annoying, but all you’ll risk is a CEL.
