They do seem to get better with a little mileage on them. I'm just over 1K and they are better than when brand new.

My 1st Ford was a 1964 Falcon.
I've had Ford Vans, a Torino, multiple trucks, multiple Mustangs, an Escort GT, etc...
Ford brakes have sucked ever since I can remember.

They have a lot of peddle travel more so than my 18. Truck overall feels softer.

I drive on a regular basis 3 other vehicles, so my take will be “just characteristic of this particular vehicle.”

Lot of pedal travel in my 98 k1500, but firm when it gets there, and winds down pretty quick if the road is dry.

65 Ranchero, (with discs - Toyota, Chevrolet, Ford parts) not a lot of pedal free play and pretty firm once they get hold, but since no power assist, takes some effort to get it wound down in a hurry.

66 ElCamino, (discs from 69-72 stuff with a 67 distribution block) just even looking at the pedal cross-eyed will most likely send you to the windshield.
This thing has brake action similar to the mid 60s Chrysler full size products.
(drop a feather on the pedal for instant lock up).

so, this new one is just another to get accustomed to.

My 2 cents:
Yeh I generally like the braking on my 5.0. Do seem to need to build a little temperature up first for hard braking. as well as get some heat in the tires, pressure up to 36-37 at least hot. Could upgrade the pads but so far so good for me.
I think the new Gen14 fox system will help with some of the nose dive and rebound , yaw at turn in....still waiting... And bouncing under hard baking on bumpy surface can cause ABS to kick in when dont really need it yet.
Also in sport mode I seem to have to work with/against the higher revs to hit my marks, no surprise.
Im by no means the greatest driver, I haven't pushed it quite to all limits yet, taking my time before first oil change.
ABS works ok on paint and damp conditions...cuz I had to test that too. lol It will over shoot if youre not careful.
I think the Hankooks I got are good but a harder compound than I would like. Someone said the OEM compound is one off slightly harder? Running at 35 psi cool, up to 37 hot, 34 cold .
Also adjustable brake pedals helped get my feet and heels where I wanted them. So I'm glad I got that, not just for wife and daughters. LOL
And yes some kid started to change lanes with no signal right into me. I backed off then had to brake cuz he was still coming and I couldn't believe it. Then exactly as described in the manual I think the collision avoidance increased the braking and made me look like Daniel Riccardo, last of the late brakers. It broke hard and smooth, then backed off. very impressive. Before that I was like I'm turning all this tech crap off....now I'm like yeh baby way to go Ford engineers I'm leaving that sh*&%t on !!!
Thats all I can think of so far on braking. After all it is still just a truck. But hella nice one.

Has anyone else noticed a “click” in the break feel from time to time? It’s almost like the anti locks or the cross traffic system is getting ready to engage, but I notice it every once and a while when I push the pedal down the first time when I get in.

I’ve felt as if my brakes were slightly underpowered as well. However, I’ve attributed that to the 3.5L EcoBoost engine writing checks the brakes can’t always cash when I’ve been really moving. Always got a smooth stop so far, but found myself having to apply more pressure on the pedal that I was expecting.

bumping an old threat but I would agree with those that said soft brakes. My 2.7 xlt screw takes a great amount of force. Squishy brakes with long travel. My heel comes off the floor regularly and Im 6'2

Is the noise normal when you push the brakes. Even sitting still there is some noise from the brakes when pushing them. I'm guessing it's part of the electrical brake setup????

I’ve noticed brake noise while stopped and inching. Sounds like a creaking noise sort of. It’s kind of like when your brakes get wet and that first stop under light braking. It actually seems a little more pronounced when they’re wet. I’m in a PB so I attribute it to the regen braking, but I will take it in of it gets worse than an occasional annoyance.
