So after an unfortunate tire issue, I am down the Rabbit Hole on VEDC and I already own jumper cables but people seem to buy buying these Noco Jump Packs and the like which are basically just small batteries to jump your own car.

My question is any of this necessary or even possible with a Powerboost given the 12v gets charged from the HVB and uses a different starter?
Alternatively, should I just replace the smaller 12v under the back seat with a LFP battery and never worry about it? Both?

The Powerboost does still possess a traditional bendix/flywheel starter, and that starter still requires the cranking amps of an underhood 12V AGM battery.
Also note that the auxiliary battery is isolated momentarily from the underhood battery during the ICE starter cranking event. That's the purpose of the battery isolator mounted to the battery tray, right next to the AGM. Which also limits the footprint of the AGM to an H7, vs an H8, which will fit in a non-Powerboost.

I've never had a starting issue, but one of the most recent OTA updates fixed my SOC issues.

I still have a NOCO, though I'll probably never need to use it on my own vehicle.

I think that means yes you can jump start a PowerBoost. Follow your manual for the how to.

PB starts like any other. Early on I've completely drained the AGMs with sub 1v showing. I connected the mach-e up to it (has same DC/DC 220a output, BUT only a 30 or 35ah batt which won't start the PB), using 4ga 20' long cables (CCA, not copper). I left it like that for a couple minutes because it was sub 1v which is dead dead. I hit the start button and the truck fired right up using the flywheel starter.

I have a 200A starter mode on my battery charger.

Somedays Dr. Frankenstein comes by and borrows it.

Last time, he mumbled something like, "This is the only thing that can start my monster without a storm."

I wonder what that means?

🤔

If the 12v AGM is dead, can you still drive? When I start up from a stoplight with the ICE off and then at say 20mph the ICE starts, is it being started by a conventional starter or by the electric motor through the drivetrain?

Ford could make a dead 12v rescue mode if they wanted to. The PCM would need a small 16v backup battery to wake itself up and a few other modules as well as close the HVB's accessory contactor that powers the DC/DC. From there it'd power on the DC/DC while opening the isolator followed by a start of the engine. Starting could be done entirely by the traction motor by utilizing the overrunning clutch in the trans. A small lithium ion battery could do all of this without adding but maybe $40 in cost of the truck.

Given the nature of the truck, you could probably wake it up / start it using a "20v" lithium drill battery as is given the traction motor already handles 99% of cold starts. The only thing preventing this is the HVB acting as if it's dead once it gets below 40% SOC which is entirely ford's doing.
