I sold my similar 2020 for a good price after 2+ years. I liked it but made a few compromises due to early pandemic uncertainty...ormaybe boredom. I traded my 2012 that I bought new. With used prices high I figured I'd sell the 2020 and order exactly what I wanted in a 2022 and if I had in by December that was fine. I planned ahead and got all the materials I needed for home projects and could get by driving my summer car easily.
I completely missed the news when Ford cut off the 2022 orders right around the time the 2020 sold...but I still figured I'll just order a 2023 in July and have it by fall.
Once I got back on the forums ( the other big one) I saw that 2023 production wasn't actually starting until fall and since my build would be fairly chip heavy I could see it not showing up until spring or even summer next year. And the price increases caught me off guard too, not even considering what 2023 pricing or option deletion might be.
I ended up finding one truck on the lot that was 95% what I would have ordered. And by chance it was an abandoned 2022 special order built in January and I believe on chip/ shipping hold until a few weeks ago. Sticker is basically around X plan for the same build if ordered today...which of course can't be done.

So, boading a flight in a few minutes to pick it up 5 or 6 states away...crazy times in the truck world.

Congrats! Def found a unicorn.

I found a 2021 last October that had everything but 2 features I wanted - even the colour was right. Snatched it up before all the price increase, delays and feature removal hit.
Sometimes we get lucky!

I was not willing to compromise on color, sport, 502A, max tow, big mirrors, full size box, 360 cameras and a few other things so yes, I was glad to find it. Basically, compared to what I would have spec'd it has the 3.5 which is fine but would have probably ordered the 5.0, and it has Blue Cruise that I would have done without. It has the Unleashed which I'm not convinced is worth $700 but I also would have probably caves and ordered. My 1979, 1992, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2006, 2012, 2020 and maybe some I'm forgetting were all V8's. I've read enough to be fine with the Ecoboost.

You're probably right about the Unleashed, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the BlueCruise. Waiting for pics!

Sounds like you have the 22 version of my truck. Very good spec! Mine is a silver 502a lariat sport 6.5’ bed with tow mirrors and just about every option you can get.

I think there are a lot of Lariat trim trucks that have been on chip hold that are starting to be finished and delivered now. Many of them are dealer stock and abandoned custom orders that are going to start showing up on dealer lots shortly before the 2023's start down the line. Wouldn't it be surprising if actual sales and incentives appear early fall to clear that inventory for the 2023's?

I would like to think so...but unfortunately I think that's not going to be the case. There's still crazy markups on all dealer ordered trucks. Then the fact that interest rates are now at levels not seen in a LONG time and almost all incentives are gone. I suspect that Ford can not stop dealers from the markups. The demand is to high at prices never before seen.

That is a pretty generic statement. Not all dealers mark up. And you dont have to pay it if they do.

I have 3 Ford dealers within 50 miles of me. None mark up anything over MSRP.

My wife recently bought a 22 Subaru Outback. Dealer had a 4k ADM on the sticker. When negotiations were complete, before she signed anything, we told him to remove ADM or we are walking. We sign or not. Your call.
That 4k came off quickly.

I contacted about 8 Ford dealers in the VA area (DC to NC) when I ordered in January and every one was MSRP. They made a point of saying they will not charge me over MSRP but they also would not budge a nickel on the price. Even for an order. That is why I went to Granger and I am glad I did.

Now if I could only find a Lexus dealership that works like Granger I would be all set. :)

I can't recall if I contacted them or not. There was a Ford dealership just south of Annandale but they were MSRP. I was looking in early January.

I'm not saying that the Unleashed is anything spectacular, but $700 is peanuts these days for almost any upgrade. I had a 2021 Platinum Powerboost without unleashed, and now a 2022 with it. Again, not a $10,000 audiofile build or anything, but in my opinion easily a $700 improvement.

Similar to the CCD active suspension. A $650 option. That's le$$ than the price of 1 high quality aftermarket adjustable damping shock. Admittedly the CCD isn't as good as $4000+ Fox 2.5 DSC setup, but it's EASILY $650 improvement over the F150 oem dampers.

Value equations are subjective, of course. I'm just sharing mine. I'm one old dinosaur that's enjoying the brave new world technology in my closing chapters. Lol

2022 Lariat 502A, Iconic Silver, Sport Appearance, 360 Camera, Blue Cruise, Max Tow & Mirrors, Unleashed, Spray In Liner, Folding Hard Tonneau, 3.5l Ecoboost, Work Surface, Rear Wheel Liners, Engine Block Heater, 20" Wheels. No Tailgate Step or Moonroof.

Working on body color mirror caps and will probably just pull the rear blocks out for now...has about 3.5 inch rake after 1800 miles.
