Here on the Ark (Arkansas) I paid $129 for the doc fee and $180 to the state for all the registration fees. That included the new $100 hybrid registration fee they now impose. Remember when you got a tax break for buying a Hybrid? Now they tack on an additional $100 per year for the pleasure of owning one.
Bummer, I think here you still get some sort of discount for hybrid but probably will go the same way.

For OP: If your state has a registration fee calculator it might help you determine what is valid as part of registration in your area and what the dealer may be tacking on.

Here is the result for a new 55k gasoline non-commercial vehicle in CA (it wouldn’t all fit on one page - this is the state, not the dealer, I think our DMV legislation used to be in car finance lol):

Doesn’t appear to be a bad deal if that’s the Out The Door price.

Most of that is Sales Tax (state and local county/city). I was amused by all the little 1-8 dollar charges.

Holy crap. I will never complain about our registration fees again. And this is a new registration with a vanity plate, not a transfer!

I did some digging and it is up to you if you want to challenge the dealer on the fees. It seems odd they would charge a Doc Fee and then tack on additional charges for each doc (basically) they process. Anyway, read the links for yourself and make your own determination.

Dealer's Inventory Tax: Paid by dealer in January of current year based on physical inventory on December 31st of the prior year. If your truck wasn't on the lot on December 31st, the dealer will never pay this tax on your vehicle. Read here, Texas explicitly points out this is the dealers responsibility. https://comptroller.texas.gov/taxes/publications/96-254/vit.php

State Inspection Fee: This is legit and required

Deputy Service Fee: Also legit, but it would seem the dealer is overcharging. The dealer acts as a Deputy of the tax-assessors office and can charge $10 for Title and $9 for registration. At least that is how I read it. https://bit.ly/2RpRO0j

License Fee: State tag fee is $50.75, not sure what else they are charging for. https://www.txdmv.gov/sites/default/files/body-files/FeeChart_1C.pdf

Title Fee: This is spot on at $33.00.

Looks good to me.
Check it all out first, outside, inside, undercarriage (rust), all functionality, electronics, rattles, etc etc
Be diligent, be happy.
Yes check the undercarriage for rust. I'm in Ontario canada and I got 6800 of the sticker price on my xlt sport fx4 poweeboost.
