4A shouldn't be an issue on dry pavement. It's literally designed for it.
Sport Mode certainly wouldn't be a slippery surface mode.

However, I wouldn't want to live with being forced to use 4A just to avoid IWE issues. I'd much rather just not have the IWE option but still decide for myself whether I wanted the front differently connected to the crankshaft, if you know what I mean.
I’ve toyed with the idea of just removing the IWEs all together. I even have a TCCM for a f150 that I ordered by mistake when I did my 4a conversion that’s programmed for a non iwe truck. Without having done all the research yet I’m assuming I could just unplug the iwe’s and then would have to get both new front hubs for non iwe so that they are hard connected all the time. Just thinking out loud at this point.

So the front hubs are different for an IWE delete truck?

If that's so, it's a bummer

Well again I’m just spitballing. I don’t know. My thought is they would be different in that with no iwe to lock the axles in they would have to splined into the hub. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah when its slick I usually put it in slippery mode.

I agree, I'd rather just not have the problem at all. I was hoping once it warmed up it would stop to buy a few months to come up with a solution, but based on today I'm thinking that isn't going to happen.

I'd love to just disable it, but if it requires different hubs that complicates things.

You could be right.

Indeed.
But I'd still be willing to see what errors you get when Unplugging them after they are engaged.

It's crazy that Ford is dealing with IWE issues after redesigning the IWE to NOT rely on vacuum. Afterall, now the PCM has total control and there's no reason for a partial engagement.

Shit I did not even think about that. So possibly new hubs and new half shafts as well. 🤔

I kept thinking somone would figure out a way to disable it with forscan or something.

Found the TSB
Get this..... It's for 14 straight year models of F150 with the TOD (4A) Transfer Case.

If 4A equipped, check out what Ford decided to do after messing with the repairs for nearly 18 years

I've attached the whole TSB.

Bummer, mine's the tremor and has the specific half shafts. I'm surprised more Tremors don't have the issue, but ti does seem like it's becoming slightly more frequent.

My 23' F-150 with 250 miles on it is showing issues with IWE. Pretty big discussion on another board of brand new 23's having the same issue

Amazes me ford has yet to figure this out short of just deleting IWEs on all trucks.

Please explain how I would disconnect them and I’ll be happy to test this theory. I peeked down there today and see the “motor” I guess and some wires around it. Is it a simple canon type plug?

See that interesting. When I have mine in 4A the howl/hum is intermittent. Like if I’m on the throttle lightly I’ll hear it but with my foot off then there is no noise at all. Weird for sure.
Same. More pronounced in 2H, mostly goes away in 4A. But definitely a little hum off throttle. Arg!!!

Word of advice... For $80, assuming you are mechanical, replace it yourself. Don't even hassle with the dealer, loaner, etc.
