As it is fairly well known in the ecoboost f150 world that factory CAC is an underperforming unit, I am looking to upgrade.

I am leaning towards the mishimoto, as I would like a “stealth”(black), stock location unit as I have no interest in disassembly the active grill shutters.

My struggle is that nobody will verify fitment for the “all new 2021 f150”..
Mishimoto and AMS CLAIMS “15+“ fitment, afe and Injen still only show “15-20”

I reached out to mishimoto and this was their responses

Following as in 2025 when my truck is ready I’ll tune it and want better intercoolers.

edit: still waiting for my 21, but getting really close.

@Doyouevenboost I recently installed the CV Fabrication intercooler along with the Turbosmart ev bov. The intercooler needed 1 extra part to make it work. Both parts are quality products.

The aluminum 45* deg piece. It could also be done with just the second picture I posted, and just cut supplied rubber coupling to fit.

So if your new intercooler retained the factory e clip style coupler, you wouldn’t need the elbow?

I reached out to CV Fabrication about an update for 2021 models. They said they're working on a fix and should have something in a couple months. The goal is to eliminate the need for the additional elbow. I think the CV Fab FMIC and Turbosmart BOV will get installed together when availalbe.

So if your new intercooler retained the factory e clip style coupler, you wouldn’t need the elbow?
Correct, however every aftermarket intercooler I’ve seen does not have the retainer clip style fitting.

One of the reason turbocharged automotive engines, ( gas engines that the manufacturers converted to run as diesel) didn't take off years ago (1970's) was they didn't make the engines strong enough to handle the higher combustion pressures so the engine failures (mostly head gaskets) were much more often.

Combustion pressure is a factor of how much air and fuel you can get into the cylinder.

So why would you knowingly push more air and fuel into a combustion space to get a few more horses. Just buy a bigger engine with more horsepower.

Hey Skippy, I’ve got a 650hp 3.5 that my wife daily’s, these engines are detuned on a level never seen in vehicles. Lots of headroom, and extremely durable.

The above is not for chicken little types I suppose.

Whats with all the undiluted preaching on this site? Bizarre

Im just gonna be contrarian here and say (as a result of lots of tuning and testing and running 3 different aftermarket intercoolers on 3 different ecoboost F150’s)

The OEM intercooler sees more gains by locking open the shutters, than replacing the intercooler itself. Strange but true.

When tuning the 3.5’s I own, we found 90% of the gains from swapping the IC could be had by opening unplugging the intercooler shutters. Try it and log it and you’ll see.
