sometime this morning I will post pictures of everything I have
Thanks, I’m planning on a similar installation. Also can you give us details on how the system worked once connected to the house? How many breakers were you able to turn on without over loading the truck? How long is your cable that connects the truck to the house?

@Tireman

Looks like you have the perfect solution. There are a number of us that will duplicate what you did.... Once we know what that is. ;)

There should be no difference pulling the ground from the box or cutting it at the plug.

I’m a tire man
This is my setup. The chord from my truck to the house is 30 feet. I first tried to do it with all the breakers on. It said there was too much load. I turned off the hvac, gave it another try, and it worked perfectly. I tried turning the hvac on afterwards and it worked. I obviously didn’t have the AC on. All the appliances in the house run off gas. So I’m confident I can pretty much power the whole house if need be.

Do you have invoice and parts list? Definitely on my wish list... once I get my truck.

The grounds and neutrals are all connected in a house electrical service by Electrical code.

That's similar to the setup I had in Florida. The only way to power the outlet was to cut the main power. Used a 5500 Generac portable unit down there. It ran everything but the electric hot water heater and a/c. Up north, I'm all gas so I figure to be able to run everything but the a/c and maybe even that. These a/c units up here are dinky.

yes, inside the plug. We disconnected inside the plug, cut the excess copper from that wire and put a little electric tape, then reassembled. So looking at it assembled, you would never know we did it. We may do another one today, I will post pictures
Can't understand why the ground in the electrical panel can't be disconnected instead of removing the ground from the male end of the cord. Any thoughts?

Depends on where "in the electrical panel" means I think. You need to make sure that the ground pin from the truck never reaches earth ground at the panel. If you can find and break the path from the 4-pin connector in the transfer switch that would be the same effect. Ground-neutral is bonded inside the truck already, then the house should bond the neutral to earth ground at the most appropriate place for overall common ground. I don't understand why the truck throws the fault but there is something about the truck's ground pin seeing that remote earth ground at the panel that the propower doesn't like, as described by others in these threads.

Give us an update if you don't die get it to work...

We've been debating getting this transfer switch and putting our garage fridge, on demand water heater (gas), and then kitchen, master bed/bath, office, and family room circuits on it. This would basically cover everything but a couple guest rooms and the AC.

Would the Powerboost be able to run six circuits with this transfer switch ? If so, it is pretty much DIY and just a couple hundred in parts.

Install seems easy:

The easiest way to do all of this is with a Generlink meter mounted transfer switch..
Your local power company may even offer it as an option through them..

It is automatic so when the power comes back on it will auto transfer back to normal utility power..

It will power your whole panel.. You still have to load manage but being able to power up anything it can handle is a plus..
95% sure it won't work with the truck as the truck generator is a bonded neutral

My power company does not allow these.

Luckily, Generlink knows this and replied to my inquiry with the information.

I'm not 100% sure myself..

Generlink has a list of compatible generators and it lists all kinds of generators with both bonded and floating neutral that are compatible..

http://generlink.com/files/123356851.pdf

The generlink may be compatible, but the truck will most likely not like the second bonded neutral in the electrical panel due to the truck being GFCI protected..

I believe that the generators (with bonded neutral) that Generlink lists as OK only have the GFCI protection on 110v generator outlet i.e. not the full panel including the 220v. The issue with the truck is that the GFCI protects the 220v outlet and so this outlet will have an issue with the second bonded neutral in the electrical panel
