Installed H8 AGM battery; my truck is transformed

After limping along with the original Ford H6 battery my '23 5.0L came with, I finally caved and installed a new Platinum Diehard H8 AGM from Advance Auto. I already had bought the Ford factory insulating sleeve for the H8 size battery (which is now back in stock), so the battery swap was very simple.

Long story short, my truck is transformed. Annoyingly, my auto stop-start now works again (wasn't working with the limp H6 battery). So now I manually have to turn it off every time (but glad to do so). I no longer get the screen immediately on shutting off the engine saying my radio/nav system has been shut down to save the battery. The radio now stays on after I turn the engine off. I could keep going, but basically it's a different truck now. It's really quite amazing how something so simple as an undersized battery negatively impacted so many of the truck's features. If you're sitting on the fence about upgrading the capacity of your battery, as has been posted many time before, just do it; you'll be glad you did.

I did the same last year with the same results. Fixed almost all of the annoying issues with the truck. For people that are having low SOC issues or even intermittent issues I'd highly recommend upgrading to an H8 battery and popping open the fuse box and pressing them all in to make sure they have good connection. I found 1/2 a dozen fuses & relays that were not seated fully and got an audible "snap" sound as I pushed them in.

But I really love my option code 52X (Auto Start-Stop Removal) which I selected when I ordered my 2021 Lariat (my truck was delivered exactly as ordered with no unilateral factory removals).

Re: Auto Start/Stop - I also installed the Autostop Eliminator. It is way overpriced for what it is, but it's one of my favorite upgrades anyway. Despite the price, I would recommend it if you don't want to try to remember to push the button each time (which I always forgot until I got to the first stop sign).

Yes. Many folks might not know it, but today’s modern cars and trucks use anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 computer chips. The vehicle’s battery is vitally needed to send power to all of this stuff.

I watched both the Autostopeliminator and the 4DTech installation videos, and to me, the 4DTech looks like a much simpler installation since no factory trim removal is required. I'll probably go with the 4DTech system if it ever gets to the point where I can no longer deal with having to manually shut the autostart system off every time I start the engine. I appreciate the referrals to both products - they both look good!

That was the one forced removal on my '23 that I was more than happy to accept. I was lucky enough to get both the heated mirrors and bed camera from the factory which I am extremely grateful for.
