I used to work in the outdoor industry (Patagoina, North Face, ect). The goods arrived at my retail locations pre-priced with the MSRP (just like a new Ford). If you were caught charging more than what that sticker said, you were at risk of losing your dealers license for that brand.

I think it is time for the industry to come together and put an end to this. A basic pricing structure where vehicles on the lot are MSRP and not a penny more, unless the customer expressly asks for add-on's. Customers who order and wait for their vehicles to come in will pay invoice, or at least get a hefty discount, for their wait. If the manufacturer, who is not making a dime off these obscene markups, wants the customer to pay MSRP, even for an order, on a Halo car like the Raptor R or GT500, that is fine, but the dealer doesn't set that price.

I was speaking with one of the sales guys at my local dealer. They are about to build a new dealership across town, to replace the aging one near me. I said "I bet it will be nice to get a bigger service department". (as the historic model was to retain that sales customer, making a small profit, and produce the bulk of your profits 'back of the house' on service). His response was that this dealer left the 'service model' years ago. They are solely focused on selling cars at the largest profit possible. He would not be surprised if the sales floor/lot size doubles, but the service department remains about the same size. As many issues as new cars have these days, that blew my mind. It is unfortunately how the industry has changed, while the manufacturers looked the other way.

You can trace the name/number back to Future Ford of Sacramento, so unlikely a scam.

It is most likely a numbers game. over 100k of profit is likely more than enough to offset any negative repercussions from Ford (fines or less allocations). But that is based on the assumption @Ford Motor Company is actually making good on the threats they made earlier in the year to dealers charging crazy markups for in demand vehicles.

That’s just insane. My neighbor just bought a Ram TRX at sticker price and supposedly someone offered to buy it for $160k.

I don’t know what it is about where I live.

But $100k over MSRP seems low…

Nope. It took forever to come in so I guess he didn't want to wait again.

Shit, I would have taken that money and ridden a moped while waiting for my next truck to come in.

That ad was certainly placed by the salesman not the dealership.

This kind of stuff is just down right wrong gouging people in these difficult economic times is disgusting to say the least. We want then to play fair don't buy the trucks with any outrageous markup. 100K mark up get the F out of here.
