Why not installing a very small and quiet generator in the bed with a small a/c unit in the back? Definitely cheaper than trading your vehicle. Run a starter control switch to the cab so you won't have to get in/out all the time to start it/turn it off. Think tractor trailer APU.

Between the oil changes and load on your engine it will pay itself off pretty quickly.

Idling isn't bad for a gas engine -- the issue is that you've got additional wear and tear / oil life usage that's not tracked as mileage is the typical indicator. You can however track your 'time' via the trip indicators and you could extrapolate the time into a virtual mileage for oil changes.

Does your vehicle by chance have a towing package with the extra cooling for towing.

Then think about this aspect. Many a Ford squad cars sets hours upon hours idling waiting just for you on your hurried way to and from. By gosh screw up just once and from idle to you they have no issue.

Maintain your your 5K oil changes and if you have more concern with it drop back to 3500 mile oil changes.

The 2.7 EB engine is the smallest CC engine line up. Granted a PB runs the AC on electric but it is not magic electric from the closest current bush it comes from the bigger 3.5 EB engine and at the time of the 1rst engine restart until the battery can be recharged thru re-gen all the electricity comes from a 3.5 EB.

As for efficiency running a engine to generate electricity to charge a battery to then run a electric compressor VS a engine directly running a compressor, will go engine compressor every time and cut out all the unnecessary BS stuff.
