I have the F150 hybrid and a canopy on the back. Looking to put a few accessories back there like a 12V fan, LED lighting, 12V ports for phone chargers, etc. Curious what the best option is here for constant 12V power? What should I tap into?

Also, does the F150 hybrid engine start using the onboard hybrid battery or the 12V battery under the hood? Trying to get my bearings here. Thanks!

Not sure what you are asking. You shouldn't have to tap into anything there are literally 12v standard outlets in the bed.

And the ICE engine uses the normal 12v car battery to start.

Ya, just plug in and enjoy! I bought a 30 amp adapter that plugs into the 240 outlet, and has 4 household plugs at the other end… that way you can employ that outlet too if you desire…or need more options.

I don't have 12V standard outlets in the bed of my Hybrid XLT. Just the single 120V outlet.

Thanks for the info on starting.

So still confused, are you looking for like a 12v USB or Cigarette lighter outlet power source in the bed? If so why wouldnt you just buy an adapter and plug that into the 120v outlet in the bed and take advantage of the ProPower onboard system? Seems easier than running some wires from the fuse box or tapping into some existing 12v source?

I'm looking to install some low voltage LEDs and maybe a fan that will be left on at night. I want to avoid my engine cycling to charge the onboard battery. These are pretty low current draw items.

I am using the 120V outlet back there to charge stuff and run an electric water kettle during the day currently.

Kinda pondering a 12V accessory battery back there for low power stuff at night that won't draw down the main battery and can charge during the day as needed off the 120V port already back there.

Appreciate the dialogue to kinda brainstorm how I can/should set this up.

Yea, even the fully dolled up trim levels do not have 12V outlets in the bed.
And USB outlets are not 12V.

@UGADawg96

I have this battery for camping(Odyssey Extreme deep cycle from my jeep I sold). Designed and printed some switched LED housing to light up the periphery on the table for night use and put in a few 12v power outlets. Will probably wire my canopy stuff to a 12v plug to plug in to this. Can hook up my charger when needed in the bed.

Then there is a pretty low chance they would drain the high-voltage battery and cycle the ICE.

Great point. It's a 1500Wh battery so it should indeed handle the low voltage stuff overnight. Will have to test this.

Also, if what I have read is correct, the truck can (and will often) start via the high-voltage hybrid battery.

I would love to have this confirmed... in the event the starter battery is low, if it will start off the hybrid battery?

IIRC, some have started their PB with the 12V battery removed!
