I don't see this as a bad thing. That means you can spray and clean the salt out from under the bed better. Trust me dirt and salt will find their way under there no matter how far the liners hang. just my 2cents from VT

The Huskys do extend 4 or 5 inches lower than the Ford liners and cover the sides of the frame rails. That should prevent the mud from getting inside the frame through the holes in the frame and crossmember holes.

I got my Husky liners in less than a week and it took all of 15 min to install. Nice fit although I am not sure if the passenger side will rub the shock. More later.
