So I got a brand new 2023 XLT 2.7L ecoboost two weeks ago with only 5km’s on it. On the second or third day at about 250-300km’s I noticed this weird humming buzzing vibrating sound coming from the front driver side area. This video has the exact same sound I got:

From what I’ve read, if the noise stops once you put it in 4H it means you need to replace the IWE Check Valve and Vacuum Solenoid.

Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it with this method?
It doesn’t happen everyday and 4H does stop the noise as well as shutting it off and starting it back up.
It will obviously be handled through the warranty but I couldn’t get a date until November 14 and I’m wondering if it’s causing any serious damage to any other parts of the engine.

It’s unfortunate that some dickhead at Ford is aware of this issue caused by shitty parts since it’s been reported as far back as 2011 and that they still haven’t decided to completely switch to the proper parts since apparently a simple swap of the parts listed above magically fixes it like it never happened. Shitty feel having to bring in a brand new truck after only a few days.

I guess I'm not hearing it.
Sounds like noisy tires.

I guess you can’t really tell from the videos unless you’ve heard it first hand. I made a video of my own truck doing it but I used this guys video because you can hear it better.

Definitely not the tires or brakes or anything in the wheel wells because then it would happen all the time not every couple of days and you wouldn’t be able to stop the noise by switching to 4H.

The only other thing that it could be was something about some bearings or something like that. But if it were the bearings I don’t think switching to 4H would stop the noise

I have a 2.7 too so I'm interested in any weird noise issues but I haven't noticed anything.

What was the temperature outside when this happened? I had this happen last year when i first got my truck when temp was in the 30's. It would start about 5 min into my drive as truck was warming up. I would have to put it in 4wd to make it stop and then back to 2wd. It happened 3 times then temp warmed up. Some one said the IWE's are engaged to warm the temp in the transfer case. But it seems like they are partialy engaged. I have tried 4wd and it works. I will see when temp drops into the 30's soon if it happens again. It also seemed to start last spring after an update. Hopefully someone will know what the actual problem is. If it happens this fall i will take it to the dealer.

I would feel a lot better if it was something that’s supposed to happen to accommodate for the change in temperature.

It’s been happening less often, more like once a week now. It used to happen every two or three days.

When it was happening more frequently, the weather was between 15-20°C. Now our weather is between 5-10°C and it’s not really happening as much.

It was 37 degrees this morning and it didn't do it. I will see if it happens when it got colder.

Temperature has reached below zero over here today and it happened again for the first time in about a week so I’m kind of hoping that it’s just some thing that activates when it’s colder out.

I’m probably wrong but I’m just trying to rationalize it in my mind because I don’t feel right driving around, thinking that I might be damaging my engine every day.

Its not RPM related so engine is out. Sounds like the RF wheel bearing but it can be turned off.

It does go up and down with the rpm’s and something weird happened for the first time today.
When I came to a stop at the red light, the noise just stopped and I was waiting for it to come back when the light turned green and it never did. I usually have to restart the engine or put it into 4H for it to stop the noise.
