How's the hitch safety chain access - hammer locks anyone?

So, for those of you who have towed, is it easy to hook up your safety chains? Or, would the Hammer lock shackles make it much easier?

Mine are easy, just hook it at the narrow part.

I like that idea. It's not super hard but it's not easy either. The one that's a bit of a PITA is the safety wire for the breakaway controller.

Wouldn't those Hammer locks rattle when driving? Especially on bumpy roads?

Just use a small carabiner clip for the safety wire

I think it's a restrictive area.... certainly not wide open /easy, but I got used to it so it's not terrible the few times a year I do it. I thought maybe my trailer hooks were small, glad to know it's not just me. I'd be interested in Those hooks but not if they make a bunch of noise

Nope, those would work too. Guess I'll wait and see how easy it is to hook up.

I used the standard Shackles, Galvanized. Put a Piece of hose over the pin (middle part) to keep them from Rattling around . works well. Much easier for tow hook on larger trailers
