Is the truck supposed to be running non-stop for hours on end? Is there a way that I can get it to turn on only 1-2 minutes/hr like others on the forum?

I've read others' posts about using pro power onboard and it sounds like others' trucks are only running 1-2 minutes on every hour when in 'generator mode'. Every time that I try to use generator mode my truck seems to run non-stop until i turn it off: headlights stay on, ac stays blowing, it acts like its ready to drive. The engine never turns off. I'm also wondering if the auto start/stop removal is causing this to happen. I'd like to take my truck ice fishing this year and use it to power a tv / laptop and some other small stuff, but if the truck runs non-stop it's not worth it.

I have a 22 xlt w/ a 2.7L ecoboost and 2.4kw pro power on board, and auto start/stop removal.

Edit: Also of note: I've never tested this for more than 20 minutes or so. Maybe it does turn off after running for some amount of time at the beginning?

You have a 2.7 Ecoboost
That's not a Hybrid
The motor has to be running to supply power to your 120V outlets

It's Ford's fault for the confusing nomenclature they use.

ProPower onboard on a Powerboost is NOT the same thing as ProPower on a non-Powerboost.

Ford doesn't realize how confusing that might be

2.4 and 7.2 are only available on the Powerboost which can shut off and run on its battery pack. The gas engined F150s come with the 2.0 which unfortunately requires the engine to run while it's generating as it has no battery pack to run off.

If you have the 2.7 EcoBoost, this doesn't have the actual 2.4/7.2 generator, it is the 2.0K generator and requires the ICE engine to be always on to power those ports in the bed of the truck. Same way with my EcoBoost, engine one all the time to get juice from those ports.

Thank you, OP, for the question. And thank you to the commenters for the answers. This was a bit confusing to me, as well.

I kinda feel for those with ICE only reading about the PB guys with PPOB and being let down when the realize it's a powertrain difference. Then there's the performance of the 2.0 system -- they could have did it a solid for the price but man.
