I found a 'workaround', of sorts ....So, it seems that these manuals want to see an environment with an old browser like IE Explorer which runs with old-school plugins like Shockwave and Acrobat ???? Of course those are obsolete things not supported in the current world of Windows.
On a totally separate old Dell laptop (this one a Dell E6540 with smaller screen than my 'daily driver' E6530) running current WIN 10:
- Set Internet Explorer as the default browser and configure MS Edge to NEVER allow 'Explorer Mode'
- Install SVG Viewer 3.03, Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 as the default PDF handler, and Shockwave 8.00.205 (all available free from oldversion.com)
- Install the Helm disk from physical CD ROM
- Make an ISO image and mount as a virtual drive on the internal SSD with the same drive letter as the physical CD Drive used in Step 3.

BUT, I don't think this can be setup on a WIN 10 machine running Edge or another current browser as the default, or a machine with a current version of Acrobat (Reader or 'Full' version), even under a different user account. IMO it'd require a totally separate instance of Windows, as on a dual-boot machine.
As much as I love the comprehensive content and superb user interface, I can't recommend the Ford / Helm CD service manuals as a practical resource for users of PC's running currently supported Windows OS or browsers.
One person's experience and opinion, FWIW.. Caveat emptor and Have Fun!
