I have done been driving almost 600 miles and I have an average of 16.1 MPG. My current tank has an MPG of 13.9 MPG with 118 miles. Am I crazy or is this horrible economy. My 2018 2.7 always hovered around 20 MPG and I am driving the same.

I will pass on some information my grandfather gave me when I was first married many many moons ago. "Never check your MPG or how much your wife spends while shopping, both will piss you off and there is almost nothing you can do to make either of them better."

Average 22 mpgs mixed on my stock FX4 suspension and stock STX 20" wheels. Been hovering just about 21 mpgs with a 2" level and custom offroad 20s and more rugged ATs.

Well I think my MPG issues were resolved with the O2 sensor replacement. I was able to get 23 mpg over mixed highway driving. I found once I started going over 70 mph it began to drop. 65-68 it kept going up.

Yeah O2 sensor issues will usually make a vehicle dump extra fuel to run rich as a safety measure which will give you horrible MPGs

Very, very light foot and my 2.7 got 14 with first tank. Now up to 16 in town. Have not done a long trip to see if it is better. under 600 miles so it should(I hope)get better. Doubt it will ever get anywhere neat what Ford states.

I got 13.9 on my 1st tank in my 2018 but it improved greatly where I was getting basically 20 avg. by the time I traded it for my current 2020. Give it some time and it will increase. Eco mode does help…

I ordered my 2.7L back in February and was looking forward to the power/efficiency as i was coming from an older GMC 8 cylinder. It got delayed due to the chip shortage and then I started seeing threads about the poor fuel economy. This got me worried and questioned my decision on this engine.

My truck was finally delivered a couple weeks ago and I have gone through the first tank of fuel. On my first trip I averaged 24mpg. This was a mix of highway and dirt roads. During the initial leg of about 90 miles at around 62 MPH, I got 25.7 MPG! This was while in the ECO mode.
So far it has exceeded my expectations and I hope it continues to perform as great as it has.

The 2.7 is most definitely capable of very good MPG numbers. Try hand calculating your mileage sometime and compare it to the numbers the your truck calculates. Mine was reading high by about 1.4 MPG. I have since adjusted that and now my truck reads dead nuts to my hand calculations. My last tank gave me 23 MPG on the nose.

When you say you have adjusted it so the truck reads dead nuts.... is there a way to make those adjustments in the vehicle settings?

This video shows you how to adjust the AFE bias. Pretty easy and it works well.

That is so fantastic on a new engine that I have to guess we both have LOM(lie O meters)that are out of whack. Mine reads low and yours reads very high. IF yours is correct and after "break in" mileage gets to your truck, you would end up with readings WAY beyond what Ford claims. Just does not seem right.

Just reporting…. Halfway through my 2nd tank. Computer said I got 12.7L/100km (18.5mpg) and I hand calculated 13.3L/100km (17.7mpg) in mixed driving.

Current tank has me at 12.8l/100km also in mixed driving.

I am really pleased with these #’s so far. This engine has plenty of power and puts out as good or better fuel economy than most mid-size crossover SUVs. Love it.

Over 5000km, mine seems to have settled in at 12.1L/100km(19.4MPG) based on the reading in the truck. I'm sure the actual value is a bit higher but still, very good mileage for a pickup. Plan once my lease is up was to go with a Tacoma for a smaller size and fuel economy, but if the updated Ranger shows up with the 2.7L then I might just have to go with that instead.
