I'm going to compare normal driving mode to eco mode. Just filled up yesterday, 332kms driven for the week, in normal mode, my average for the week was 11.2 liters per/100 kms. I will stay in eco mode this week and see what the difference is between the 2 driving modes. I will post my findings next week. I drive mostly backroads during the week to and from work, 5 days a week with cruise control set at 92kms per hour with some intown driving.
fyi
So after driving 316 kms in eco for the week, My average was 10.5 liters per/100. Almost 1 liter of gas saved in eco vs normal. Not a huge difference, but it is slightly better then driving in normal mode.

have you adjusted the AFE bias? Mine was about 2 MPG high, after I drove for a bit I recalculated the AFR bias and adjusted it in engineering test mode. Now it reads within +\- 0.2.
I followed a video I saw somewhere and it would not go into engineering test mode. My 2019 did without any problem. Won't work on my '21. ????

What is the optimal cruising speed for MPG for the 2.7? 65?

Upcoming I have a 300 mile freeway trip that will be mostly flat. This is the same drive I took home from the dealer. I think I got less than 19 but it was brand new and I was going 75-80 the entire time. Looking to find out how much better it will do at a lower speed.

Averaged 19.1 mpgs the first 3000 miles. This is all with winter gas, a driving mix that leans more city than hwy, and more start up idling that I'd prefer. Although I've driven mostly conservatively - a few sport mode drives, but not many.

Yesterday I made a 90 mile trip that was mostly highway and the computer said 25 mpg. Quite encouraged by this.

I have done been driving almost 600 miles and I have an average of 16.1 MPG. My current tank has an MPG of 13.9 MPG with 118 miles. Am I crazy or is this horrible economy. My 2018 2.7 always hovered around 20 MPG and I am driving the same.

My 2.7 Lariat hovers around 22 MPG in town and about 27 on the road .

What speed do you typically drive on the highway to get such high mpg?

According to the dash, I am always 20.5-20.9 mpg. My commute is 6 miles through neighborhoods/town, a ten miles blast down the highway, 2 miles through town and finally a 2 mile crawl through an industrial site at 15mph.

So, not the best fuel-milege scenario, but I am satisfied with the mpgs.

Running a 22 4x4 XLT 302a with the 2.7 payload package. Fuel average economy screen is at 21.1 mpg.

Don't pay much attention to the screens and run mostly the calm screen, but after reading this post thought let's see what is happening.

Fuel average MPG is just left alone and rarely get reset.

1rst morning was +4 F when leaving a +32F garage. It took over 5 miles before the truck was able to maintain the present reading of 21.1mpg. The total trip was only 8 miles with the first 3 miles at 15mpg or lower.

Next time out a tad warmer but basically the same 5 mile warm up and during the cold snap the average mpg screen dropped to 20.0 mpg.

Now the outside temp is warmer and the warm up time is much shorter and maintaining the reading above the 20.00 average is a non issue with a much shorter warm up time and again average fuel economy is back at 21.1mpg.

Just because we are running a smaller turbo engine doesn't change the mechanical facts it still takes time to bring a vehicle up to optimal operating temperature.

The trip 2 mileage (about 600 miles now) since the last oil change just broke 19mpg. Trip 1 which follows the last fill up that just broke over 20mpg. On a corrected Lie O Meter. If checked against hand calculated since the re-calibration it would be close to spot on and have given up keeping track with hand calculations.

I'll take this quote as a tribute to Ford and the 2.7 EB from people that have other trucks and even a couple of F150 people. Quote ( Let's take your truck it gets way better fuel economy than mine in the cold.)

Pretty much the same for me. After a 1.5" level, longer 4wd air dam and swapping out the tow mirrors for regular mirrors I'm back to between 24mpg and 26mpg over my 1000 miles plus per week driving which is what it was stock. Crew Cab 2wd XLT with a 3:55 axle. 68mph max all day to make the bossman happy.

I just completed a 120 mile trip with my 2.7L and got just under 27 MPG for the entire trip. I like those numbers!
Yeah I get about the same between downtown Colorado Springs and Parker. I was blown away when the trip back from the dealer ended up at 28.4. I was grannying it hard. My mixed 300mile avg right now is at 24.4.

This is an all freeway trip, 70 mph speed limit most of the way. I had cruise set at 72 on average.

Super crew lariat 4x4, 4 passengers.

I was in normal mode most of the time and then switched to eco. Im not sure if eco wouldve produced better results, but it likely would have. When using cruise I noticed that normal accelerates quicker to get the set speed. I actually like the relaxed response using cruise on eco.

On the way home I may try a different speed. In my experience hwy mpg drops considerably at 75 mph plus.

Im pretty safisfied with the efficiency of this engine.

Update - the significant wind combined with my decision to drive 75-80 mph the way home destroyed my gas mileage for this trip.

Upon arriving to the destination i was at 23.8 mpg. At the destination I spent considerable time idling and poking around town. All of that considered, the trip mpg was still at 22.5 as I left.

The way home was a different story. There was an aggressive cross wind the entire iowa interstate ride home. It was slightly into us as well, but mostly cross wind. The type that has vehicles bouncing between the lines.

I was also going 75-80, cruising on eco. No towing but had 4 passengers and some gear.

Mileage suffered. I wish I would've reset the trip before leaving, but it was probably less than 15 mpg on the interstate home.

This is the entire trip after getting almost 24 on the way there. Wind was a huge factor but this helps reinforce that 75+ brings huge drop off.
