I don't see a lot of information online about the Ford OEM hood deflector for the 2021 F-150, so I am going to share the installation of the OEM hood deflector. It took my dealer two weeks to get the part after I ordered. Part number ML3Z-16C900-A. Cost about $100.
Tools you need for installation:
- Philip screw driver
- Torx 20 wrench
- Trim removing tool
- Step stool
The installation is pretty straight forward and the Ford instruction is easy to follow. Took me about 30 mins to complete.
Here is the part #:
Package comes with protective wrapping and hardware:
Clean the hood (especially near the attachment area) and let it dry:
Open the hood and remove three fasteners on the weather stripping hood seal per instruction:
You will need a quality removing tool such as this one. The fasteners are locked in tight, I tried to remove it with the plastic tool and no go.
Fasteners removed:
Clean the area with alcohol wipe (come with the package) and put on the protective sticker which should align with the hole as shown:
Install the three mounting brackets, see how the protective sticker aligned with the mounting point:
Here is the position of the 3 mounting brackets:
Secure the mounting brackets with the torx screws (T20):
Mount the defector to the brackets using the philip screws:
There are four additional clip-on brackets on the hood, two on each side right above the headlights:
After mounting the deflector, the kit comes with five cone shaped rubber stoppers. Just peel and stick on the hood as shown below:
Installation complete:
Enjoy!
