I ordered a Lariat with front row bench seat and just realized it does not come with heated steering wheel. Granted it’s a first world problem I’d be very interested in getting it installed afterwards.

anyone in the same situation and have made any attempts?

Update:
I haven't done it myself yet but looks like our fellow members have found the solution here.
I'm still in the progress of digesting everything and I'll post updates as I go through the entire thread.
DM me if I'm missing anything.

Things you will most likely need to complete the retrofit:

- A Steering Wheel that supports the heated steering wheel (HSW) feature, some with the HSW delete from factory may already have the HSW itself just missing the control module.
- A Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) that can send power to the HSW. e.g. ML3Z-3F791-BB (you highly unlikely have it in place if no HSW feature from factory).
- Harness(es) with appropriate wiring/pin out (some already have them in place).
- (optional) HVAC control panel that has the heated steering wheel button. Part no. ML3Z-19980-K ford replacement parts or ML3T-18C612-DE.
Alternatively you can program your head unit to show a soft button on the screen.
- FORScan and appropriate coding.

From what I understand the procedure should be as follows:
1. Make a backup of as built values in FORScan
2. take the airbag off to check what parts/harness you currently have, this is because some may already have the heated wheel in place and just missing the SCCM due to chip shortage.
3. check if the harness/pins are already in place
4. purchase necessary parts for the retrofit
5. install, load factory as-built values into SCCM (and HVAC), make appropriate changes to allow HSW to work.

This is the only thing missing from my 501a build. From what i see is that it is a dedicated hard button now compared to one on screen which was done thru forscan and different steering wheel and clockspring pins change to get it added. Still waiting if someone else has found out the new method on newer 21's to change this or does it only require replacing controls on center consol for one with heated steering wheel button. Ford parts web site has them at $700 but not sure if a new steering wheel is needed as well as new clock springs. For now a pair of gloves will remedy this missing feature

Yes, very interested here as well. I want a front bench seat but you can't order one with heated steering wheel nor the 501 high package. Would like to retrofit heated SW.

Ditto - I needed heavy duty payload package which limited me to XLT 301A so couldn't get a heated steering wheel which SUCKS when you have really poor circulation in your hands and they feel freezing anytime the temp is below 70. If anyone knows how to do a swap with a raptor steering wheel in a 2021 please let me know!! Would gladly pay top dollar for a kit from Boosted Grey Goose!!

You got Reynauds too?
Sucks in the winter time. I wish I had a heated steering wheel, but I couldn’t bring myself to spend the extra $5,500 it would have cost to get that, ventilated seats and a rear sliding window. As those were the only things I cared about stepping up to a Lariat.

It’s worth up to $600 and 4 hours of labor, in my book.

I ordered a 501a for the bench seat so I have room for 6. I plan to work to retrofit a heated wheel as soon as I can. Truck is set to be in Feb 20th. So far here is what I think:
heated wheel is part ml3z-3600-ra
clockspring (need verification it is for heat) ml3z-14a664-b
steering bolt W7210795437
will need replacement heat/AC control module to get heated wheel button, I do not have a part number here as I am unable to locate the part with heated wheel button
lastly not sure if a new sccm will be needed or not, I am hoping the lariat trim will have the correct sccm and that the heated wheel option can just be activated via forscan.

I am happy to discuss further. again not 100% certain on the above, just my start at research for the project.

I am doing this already, If you have a lariat you may get away with the wheel and a SCCM with the heated circuit. The way to turn it on though is in the HVAC module so you may need a new one. Its about $500. You may be able to program the apim to turn it on and off. I cant say for sure. The heated wheel is actually control from the Driver seat module. Lariat and above have it already xl and XLT does not.

Since the wheel isnt wired to the HVAC control you may get away with having a soft button on the screen.

I ordered the SCCM its on back order until april.

There are two ways to order the SCCM.. as a complete assembly with the turn signal stalk and you can get just the airbag contact as they call it in 21. I order the entire assembly.
