I was under the same impression---that it activates at lower speeds.

I have about 10 miles of roadway on my commute that I keep below 50mph. Just a couple of lights, and no to light traffic.

I have yet to feel this so called cylinder deactivation comer into play.
I'm not even real sure it is even part of the truck.
I may give "ECO" mode a try for a couple of morning rides to see if it will happen then.
5.0 V8 for the POWER!

Had a ‘17 with the 5.0 but there have been some changes since that model year. Just wondering if people are happy with their 5.0 and what made you pick that option? Thanks.
Ive got a 2021 reg cab swb FX4 with the 5.0,10 spd auto, with 3:73 gears. PLENTY of power and for my type of driving I've gotten from 17 to 21.5 on various trips. If mine has cylinder deactivation I am unable to tell it. 5.0 with 3:73 rules!

Very happy. I prefer v8 to boosted engines. Snow plow prep requires v8, but was always ordering the Coyote. Added the 3.73 w/locker.
It is a beast.

Was happy with my 5.0 in my 15 F150 and 19 Mustang. Disappointed in it in my 22 F150 and now in an ecoboost.

I've been through 2.7 and 3.5 EB, maybe 4 trucks over the 6 years.

First time in a 5.0 and by far the most enjoyable drive over the EB.

Happy. Originally was going for Ram Hemi, but there were no allocation left for 2021. So I went with Ford. At the time, the 5.0 was only $800 more than the 2.7EB on the Lariat. I wanted 4A and V8. The engine has been reliable, more power than anybody would need unless towing a lot (in that case, just go SuperDuty). MPG takes a hit in the city compared to the EB and PB, but don't care. Would order again. 3.5 EB and PB would have to be same price or lower for me to consider them.

I agree. Every time I drop the pedal and hear the V8 roar I know I made the right choice!
