It is a little difficult to give a trade value right now that will hold up for 2 months (or however long it takes to get the new trucks on the lots). Primarily, the used vehicle market is going UP right now, especially trucks. If you trade in right now they are likely to give you 2-5k more than your truck was worth before COVID started. If they swear to that value and then the used market goes back down or drops further than it was (which is realistic), then they're stuck with a REALLY big gap and loss.First time poster here.
I'm having trouble finding a dealer in my area (Northern Virginia) who will take an order for the truck below MSRP and negotiate a trade. I've spoken to the 2 closest dealers to me, and they are both willing to take the $1000 deposit on the full MSRP, but nothing less. And they refuse to give me an offer for my trade in. They both want to negotiate the trade in value when the new truck is at the dealership. I've ordered F-150's before, and I've always negotiated a full deal before placing the order (Not in this area though). Is this the new normal for ordering a truck? Order the truck, then negotiate final price once it's ready for pick up?
Not saying I agree or disagree, but I've been watching the market and that's why I ended up selling my truck and deciding to wait for a 21 rather than trying to haggle these stupid dealerships (and limited availability).
