General feedback on 2021+ 10R80 transmission / shift characteristics

If you have prior experience with the 10R80, does the 2021 improve shift feel and operation?

That’s normal.
LOL no it's not. I've found a fix online for the whine in 2020 F150/mustangs with the 10R80 Transmission. I'll be giving that to my dealership to review. What I found looks to be an official Ford document sort of article. It states that some transmissions have this issue. There no way it should be whining. Unless it has a break in period where it will whine and then tame down and somewhat go away. I would be ok with that. But I'm yet to find that answer.

I have access to Ford’s info and there is nothing applicable to the 2021 model year. It’s an offset-gear driven pump. The transmission in my 21 sounds just like it did in my 18. Both have a whine at idle.

I have owned both the 3.5 and 5.0, 2014 to 2018, 5 trucks all in all. All had weird shift characteristics. Slamming, hard shifts, and the annoying 1,3,5,7,9,10, skip shift. Never understood why have all those gears if you skip them? I have a new 2021, 2.7, Lariat. It actually uses every gear as it shifts, seems smoother and no slamming. Ocassionally it will be a tad harsh, but by the time I feel it, it is gone and away I go. 1200 miles in I am happy!

I have a 23 f150 and I don’t like the way the 10r80 shifts. From a stop first gear it bogs, and struggles to move. Had to tune on it and it seemed to be the same lot better and maybe it just needs to be back in reload mode not sure

I have a 2021 F150 Powerboost, and the shifting was better than it was in my prior 2018 3.5L F150. However, with each PCM update, the calibration has gotten better. My truck is running the latest calibration and it shifts much better now than it did when running the original calibration. It's far less clunky. There is a TSB about shift quality issues, which could require actual transmission repairs within the valve body.

The verdict is still out on my 23 F-150. 250 miles in and this morning I'm traveling about 60-65 mph and all of a sudden the truck started a steady vibrating/pulsating , kinda like the lane assist alert but lane assist wasn't on. I was about pull over but it stopped. Thought maybe the trans got hung up or something. Who knows.....
