Yep. Then you have me who wanted trailer tow at a minimum, and for $350 (before the hike) got the additional “safety” features for a few hundred bucks and it’s better than next to nothing for trailer tow.
The more I look into the data and specs, it feels like I have more questions. There is a HPP frame for 145, though someone posted a HD frame sticker for a Max Tow + PowerBoost on this forum. If that doesn't have the HPP, I am not sure what build would. I wonder if this is plant specific thing like KC and PB can only be made in Dearborn.

Also some people are claiming that the Max Tow has the same axle in the HDPP. Though the HDPP gets a 4800 axle, while in the above example only gets a 4150. To many questions.

I'm ordering a Lariat, supercrew, 145wb, 5.0, FX4 for the purpose of towing a travel trailer. I know my biggest limiting factor will be payload in the truck. Trailers I'm looking at won't be more than 8000lbs loaded however the tongue weight could be 800-900lbs.

I'm really wondering if I need to get the Max Tow Package for the increased rear axle weight rating even though I don't need the extra trailer towing capacity and it actually hurts my truck payload capacity. The standard axle rating of 3800lbs seems weak. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
According to Ford documentation, you can't increase the rear axle weight rating by getting the Max Tow for the specs you gave. Though oddly enough, if you drop 4x4, you can increase the rear axle w/ max tow:

Interesting, I have another truck reference to add to the list of data. I test drove this and the specs are very similar to what I am ordering except it is the 3.5L instead of the 5.0L and it has the 4150lb RAWR.

Solarity, where could I access the Ford reference document you mentioned?

@solarity , I'm not sure we can trust that doc 100% yet, I think it is straight carryover from 2020, and then they added entries for Powerboost to make it look complete. Over my 20 years of working with product marketing and datasheet teams, I absolutely would not put it past them to do exactly what I just said and mark it as "done!" in their list of things to do.

Easy example in the above, that data sheet lists 3650# front axle yet there have been no white stickers showing 3650# they are all 3600#. This suggests that every number in there could be suspect.

Thanks for this data point! It matches the King Ranch 3.5EB maxtow that I physically saw. It is making me question the other data point in my sheet that says 3.5EB but rear was only 3800#. I want to go try to find that source, as it is mind boggling there are 2 rear axles for 3.5EB max tow....

I went to the dealer to change my order from a Lariat 502A to a Platinum 701A. They had a nice looking Plat in the show room. Though it had to much extra cost ($4,374) and weight on it.

Where did you get 4000 from for Front Axle on a PB? I don't even recall see a an axle at that number.

The 1328 payload makes me hope I can get around ~1450lbs for a 701A PowerBoost 4x4 145. My sticker sheet will be very short. Only issues is I now added over a week delay as they couldn't change the order also lost the $500 Rebate for my wife being a medical worker as it expired on the 4th. I was happy they had it, though a little sad they didn't renew it, seeing that Covid-19 is spiking really bad and breaking records. She interacts with covid-19 positive patients on a regular basis wearing a mask and shield. We have been extra reclusive from family and friends, because of her profession.

There are a lot of ways to get 3.73 w/o HDPP. The best way is to get a higher trim or ask the dealer if it is a bug. There is no HDPP on the Lariat or higher, though you can get 3.73 with a lot of builds.

In regards to frames, I wrote this up today. The only things associated with engine is the following:
2.7PP = 2.7L EB
MT = 3.5L or 5.0
HDPP = 3.5L or 5.0
PB = 3.5L Power Boost

My bad, I meant 3.73 w the 3.5 EB. Then only way is via HDPP.
I need max payload to allow for higher towing so thats only engine I'm considering.

Same boat, lost the $500 for my wife’s job too. Can’t believe ford didn’t renew that...

The 4000# front axle is on a 157" wheelbase plat PB. It still has same 7350# GVWR so no credit given, and it weighs a little more so lose 20# payload.

What are you ditching, the moon and liner? I think that does net you around 120 combined so I agree you should hit your 1450# goal!

Everything, but the PB engine and 701A. So no MaxTow, 7.2kw, or fold down storage. Who knows, maybe I will get closer to the 1500. Going to toss in a bed mat, so I can always remove that if needed and this build only lacks the solid stabilizer bar of the Trailer Tow Package

@solarity I may have found something to support your info. It is a Lariat, 5.0, 145"wb, 4x4, Max Tow Package and the RAWR is only 3800lb. I can't figure out why the rating wouldn't be increased to 4150lb. It has the triple leaf springs. I took a picture of the rear axle but I don't know how to tell the difference between the standard and the heavy duty 9.75" version. Only difference between this and the truck I've ordered is that I've included the FX4 package.

Seems like the 5.0 isn't getting any love this year, cylinder deactivation, no 3.55 rear diff, and lower RAWR.

Wow only 3,800 whereas the other thread had a 21 hdpp (2wd,) with rear gawr of 4,800lbs.

Ok WHAT in tarnation is going on here... So there ARE 2 versions of max tow rear axle ratings so far: 3800# and 4150#. I will need to update the tracker, but this again would make me upset to get a 3800# axle knowing damn well others are getting 4150#.

Note that powerboost gets 4150# no matter what.

I think I see then issue here:

The gross axle weight rating (GAWR) on any vehicle is defined as the maximum load an axle can support per a manufacturer's specifications. A vehicle's GAWR is the lowest of any ratings for parts of the axle, including the axle itself, tires or other components.

So the 20" wheels and/or tires are most likely reducing the rating. Maybe the axle could be the HD version, but without the wheels equipped with the HDPP, it can't get that rating?

The old 20" sport wheels on Lariats used to lower the payload by 250-300lbs.
