Fuel Door Cover Fell Off!

Has anyone else's painted fuel door cover fell off when opening? I ran a search on here and couldnt find any topics on it. I went to fill up the other day popped the fuel door like I always do and the cover came off and fell to the ground. Needless to say I was a little pissed. Luckily it didn't get scratched. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this. The fuel door cover literally can be pulled right off on mine. All I have to do is slide it off away from the truck when open. Just a warning to be careful. I'm wondering if mine is faulty or missing something.

That would be nice! I'm assuming they are all that easy to slide off. Very bad design in my opinion, unless I'm missing something?

Dang, I need to check mine. I’d add some rtv adhesive or something to it, if it came off that easily.

My Audi had the same thing happen. One of the plastic clips had come clean off and you wouldn't even know it was there.

Really though, how much weight does this save compared with the conventional design that easily lasts for the life of the truck.

Does the warranty cover trim pieces flying off into oblivion?

Some weatherstripping and gasket adhesive should hold it on better and still have the ability to disassemble it if needed.

Happened to mine too while I was driving and I didn’t realize until the next day. Drove the way I went home that night and no door. Now Ford won’t replace the door cause apparently force needs to be applied for it to come off. Why did I pay for a warranty when their faulty shit breaks??

Yes! Luckily mine flew off at a gas station. This is a problem on all the powerboost's. I put it back on with silicone. Sorry you lost yours.

I’m hoping, the dealership where I live won’t touch it because I bought out of town. But a $6000 price difference will do that. So the dealer I bought from is going to try.
I called Ford Canada and they said it should be covered, also the the dealer didn’t even call or try to pursue anything with them. Just scammers in my opinion.

Sounds like a bullshit reason, what 'Force' are they talking about? Because it seems that they did such a shitty job designing the fuel door that it looks like gravity is enough to allow it to part company with the truck it's supposed to be attached to.

Any Ford dealer is supposed to provide warranty service to any Ford truck, regardless where it was originally purchased. It sounds like they are just a lazy and incompetent dealership. The dealership I purchased my truck from is that way and I has to drive to the next farther dealer to get my truck fixed because the original dealer's service department is filled with idiots.

I might have to take my filler door cover off and use some weatherstrip adhesive as a prophylactic measure.

Thanks, the dealer I bought the truck from is working on it. But they’re going to send the part and information to the dealer who said no. The guy I’m dealing with seems awesome at Cambrian Ford in Sudbury, Ontario.
I’m really hoping it’s covered plus I just want to rub it in their faces that they are incompetent assholes.
Fingers crossed I get to do that lol.

I had a problem with my fuel door this morning. when i pushed the button to release the fuel door, it would not open. I had to pull on it to get it open. When I did that, the locking pin on the door came loose. I pushed the pin back in and closed the door, now it looks like the door does not fit right? Not flush with the rest of the rear panel.
