Went on a road trip this weekend to the eastern shore of Maryland and beaches of Delaware. Holy crap that changed everything with my MPG.

I am coming from southern MD so by no means a super hilly or mountainous region. But around there I generally get 21-22 mpg.

Loaded my kids and a little bit of gear in the truck and headed east to the truly flat ground and jumped up in mpg to 26-27.

Here are a few screenshots trip over

I did not adjust my style of driving at all and as you can see most was echo but some normal as well. Truly blown away that I consistently got those numbers.

Doesn’t matter what vehicle I’m in, I always get better than average mileage out on the Delmarva…since it’s flat as a dinner plate and the speeds are moderate...not too slow, but also never full highway speed.

I'm waiting on my PB to come off chip hold, but my current car is a 2010 Escape hybrid and we have a 2016 CMax hybrid. We routinely beat the EPA estimates. There are certain driving conditions where a hybrid does really well. Flat roads driving 40-45mph I get in the 40s.

About to finish my first full tank of gas and will break into the 700 mile club. Pretty impressive for a truck that isn’t broken in yet. Routinely get 26-27mpg around suburbia. Hwy around 23-24 at 70mph leveled.

Well congrats, it will continue to do great for ya over there. Im interested to see what I get come winter when I'm over there for hunting season.

I’m not expecting as good of results in the winter. We have pretty mild winters here so I’m ok with that.

Impressive. Those are almost the kinds of numbers I'd get with my 2020 Ranger on road trips. Best I ever managed in it was 32mpg with wife two kids and a bed full of camping gear. Kind of anxious to see what this one will do on the next trip out to the country.

1800 miles on a 22 Powerboost and my average is only 19.7 right now. Haven’t been on any long trips yet but hope it gets better. If not, I should have kept my 21 Ecoboost.

So what is the “key” to getting good mpg?

Moving to a very flat area, apparently.
Bingo. I get 21.8mpg around my area. Obviously I didnt just get the powerboost for just the fuel economy though. The 7.2kw is the big selling point on it and all the power is nice as well.

Flat, with moderate temps, and lots of trips with extended driving around 40 mph.
