Forscan Mistake 2023 F150 Platinum Powerboost

Hello everyone, I have used for scan in the past and had not ran into any issues, I was using it yesterday with the intent to shut off the maximum 30 minute idle, and that module required me to put in my odometer mileage which was just over 28,000 and I put a decimal point in and it did not take that so my odometer was changed to 282,000 miles. I had a friend at the dealership who was able to take a look at it but they weren’t able to do anything short of ordering a new instrument cluster has anyone or does anyone know of a way that you can reset this or will I have to order a new instrument cluster, which is around 1200 bucks .

so you're saying I can change the odometer when I go to sell this thing? Or you can only tick the clock forward, but not back...?

Sorry, I didn’t clarify that but yes you can go forward but it will not let you go backwards unless you have a new instrument cluster or that is what I’m being told anyway

This doesn't seem right to me at all. I find it hard to believe that you can manipilate mileage from a consumer app and the dealer can't override it.

Not saying I don't believe you! But the dealer/Ford has to be able to rectify this based on the correct onboard telemetry.

I'm not sure how you ended up in the odometer write screen trying to change the maximum idle but now that the odometer has been messed up, it can't be lowered with FORScan. You would need to send the cluster to me or someone that can write a fresh 0 miles image to it and adjust the odometer to what it needs to be (provided you have the 12" digital cluster). By doing this you will lose any Trip 1/2 information, trailers that have been setup, and mpg history. You can message me with your VIN so I can see what cluster your truck shipped with to see if this is something that can be done.

No sir all true, when the change an instrument cluster they have to specify what miles are on it so it can be programmed when it ships to the dealer, I have no reason to doubt what he told me

Another option is to find a lesser mileage IPC that you can up-write to your accurate mileage. They go for about $500. Checked ebay and they're not stating mileage on the IPCs listed. Typically they tell you the mileage of the truck a part came out of as that is a variable of its value.

When you start forscan do you not make a copy so that you can load the previous?

Funny you say that, I actually did, I guess once it goes that high it doesn’t go any higher, but when I use my app to check the mileage, it says I have over 1,000,000 miles on it now..lol

I wonder what it takes to make a byte. Could it be 8 bits. OK, it is not my car so I suggest you try, assuming it is a 3-byte binary value, enter 16,777,216. That would make it zero. Of course, Forscan may lock you out. It has been many years so I may be off some, but again it is so much fun.

I’m not very tech savvy for sure, the only thing I know for sure is that you can add mileage but can take away, which I understand completely
