I hope to be getting my ordered 2022 F 150 sometime in the summer (maybe). For the people that already own and use the Ford navigation system, how would rate it.

I have used Garmin and Toyota and some other brand years ago and I find Garmin to be the best for me. The Toyota DVD based system is alright, but Garmin is far superior. In fact, whenever I have to fly somewhere for travel I always pack my old Garmin.

It seems that the nav system on the Ford is subscription (I believe) but I cannot find where the cost is listed after the free period ends. I do not mind paying a reasonable price if it is good system.

If you have experience with Fords navi and others too, let me know what you think about it.

For years before smart phones, I used Garmin devices when I traveled for work due to using a lot of rental cars, about 200 days a year. Since the mid to late 2000s and the introduction of smart phones, I made the switch to phone based navigation. Unfortunately, I am so deep into the Google environment and only use Maps and Waze. Due to being established in those two platforms, I have a hard time using factory navigation on any vehicle, personal or rental. I really don't know why auto manufacturers waste their time in 2022 trying to compete with phone based nav or even stand alone Garmin/TomTom.

Ford’s navigation is adequate. Not as good as waze in my opinion. Ford wants $80 a year to subscribe. Not worth it to me. I won’t renew when my initial 3 years is up.

I’ve tried to use it. Too many times I’ve put an address in and it doesn’t recognize the destination

My Waze is free and tells me where cops are. My F-150 costs $80 once the 3 months were up. I can use Waze regardless of which vehicle I am in. Waze all the time for me. I'll keep my $80.

As others have said, the built-in Nav is adequate. The map detail leaves some to be desired (for the most part just a gray screen with a white line with the road you're on), but it'll get you where you need to go. I find myself at a 50/50 split of using the built-in nav and google maps through android auto if I need directions somewhere.

Thoughts on built-in features becoming locked through a paywall aside, I believe the subscription is only for the "connected services"; so things such as weather, traffic and internet based searches and suggestions are what you would pay for after the trial period. The GPS and basic guidance should still work regardless of subscription (and I also believe the "free trial" is 3-years; at least it is on mine); but I guess I could be wrong 🤷‍♂️

I like the Ford navigation interface and look much better than Apple Maps or Waze as it is intuitive and I can click one button to cancel a trip. I also is not a likely to take me on crazy routes thru neighborhoods to save 30 seconds like Waze seems to. It does have more trouble finding addresses than Apple Maps and I will switch to Apple in those cases. Will likely pay the 80$ in two more years when the free trial runs out.

Maybe 3/10. My wife and I like the bread crumb function as we explore new areas. But even the bread crumb data gets erased randomly. Maps are definitely out of date.

I'll stick to Google Maps as I'm already using Android Auto for music anyway. No sense in paying for something (eventually) when Google Maps and Waze are free.

I have a feeling the maps and business info may be more up to date and accurate compared to Ford's nav, but it's not something I've actually verified. Just assuming since the user base is a lot larger.

It’s fine when I used it once. But with wireless CarPlay, I always just use google maps. Trust it the most to be up to date on roads and traffic

I use Waze predominantly thru CarPlay, but I'm starting to get annoyed with multiple prompts asking if something is still there -- seems to be a bug where every instance, you have to tap twice. So i've been trying Google Maps as well off and on.
