I got an invite to try version 5 mid week.last week with a deadline of 4/1 to respond by. Someone needs a new calendar at Ford.
I received the same invite on 3/27. Still haven’t got access to V5. I emailed Ford last week and was told they’re sending access in waves, hang tight… we’ll see.

AI actually makes testing nearly impossible as a practical matter. Testing programs have been around for decades but the companies involved are seldom interesting in paying for the skilled programmers needed to create the test routines. Microsoft for example had 400 programmers in its testing department and then decided to shut it down and let it customers be the unpaid testers for its operating system and applications.

What I wish is that I could stop all updates as the tendency is to break what already works or add new features that provide me with no real world benefits. With the Sync programming coming out of Microsoft it is to be expected that it will have bugs that need to be patched.

I just got my TestFlight invitation yesterday for Ford Pass V5. It took about 3-4 weeks since they first messaged me about joining the beta program.

I went ahead and downloaded V5. So far I don't hate it. I know there are some functions that have not yet made their way into the program, but it is beta. When coding a new platform, you typically don't try to lump everything into a first rollout. They are, hopefully, taking the redesign seriously to start aligning with Agile development. Get the base platform working so they know the general vehicle communication functions are working, then start adding in different functional pieces over short sprints rather than monster do-all-be-all releases that tend to slip.

One example, some were saying oil life and tire pressure were not shown any longer, but it is definitely there now, and accurate for my truck. There are other things missing, but over time, it is my bet that a lot of them will return in little steps.

Honestly, the functions I use most in FP are in V5. There are a few things that others have also voiced that I would like to see, and I'll provide feedback to the Ford team. Will those things make it....? Maybe, maybe not. But at least people are providing them with wish lists of things FP used to do and new things they would like to see return or be added.

EDIT: It also has updated the Apple Watch FP app too. Again, not all the same info, but I think a good step forward in Ford's development of a new app being done from the ground up.

I just got the updated version a few days ago. I used this app for two things and two things only: Remote start and remote unlock. Those two features do work much faster than before, so I'm happy with it.

It would be nice if the new app said locked (if it is indeed locked) instead of parked. I know my truck is parked but I would like to know if it is locked or unlocked. @Ford Motor Company
I know what you mean, but I will admit that there are many different things that have to be taken into account to know the lock status. The truck needs to be queried to find out the status. I am hoping they can find a way to keep a "status" channel open without causing more issues like rapidly draining batteries. It is one of the things on my list that I plan to outline sometime to Ford. Hopefully, they will actually read the feedback....

My wife's Mazda CX5 can you tell you whether the car is locked or not. Of course, it's super fancy and when you walk away with the fob, it locks itself.

I don't think our trucks can tell when doors are locked. Mine can't tell when tailgate is open either.

As for the locked vs unlocked vs parked thing, and the comment about keeping a status channel open which may drain batteries... I don't think this is the issue at all. They are already keeping something open or pinging the truck to get DTE and tire pressure information. We also aren't leaving the app open the entire time and letting it ping away or something. Its happening when you open the app already. So they just need to add the information there.

Its more likely that they have tried in a beta version of their own, and its breaking the app somehow, and maybe they would need to rewrite a major portion of code or something. So they leave us with a sleeker looking, working app, that isn't quite as functional, but hopefully that changes.

That's odd, my 302 knows when it's open.
I can't recall the conditions for the truck to assume tailgate is open. I've only seen the message to check for open tailgate couple times and moved truck plenty with it down.

No offers for me to test new app version. You all need to influence them to add in all the missing features. :)

I think I've gotten 8 or so updates, nada.

They 100% can tell if the truck is locked or unlocked. Google the Fordpass Widget from ~2 years ago. It showed MUCH more information than Ford’s app shows. The Widget was amazing. I used it when I got my truck until Ford started locking folks out of their API.

Here is a link showing everything the widget showed.

Got the update through iOS today for 5.0. As many have stated, hope they continue to add in some new features and some of the features missing from 4.x versions. Would definitely like to know if the truck is locked or unlocked.

Looks like they removed all references to warranty status and Extended warranty info from the app as well.
