This being my first F-150 I'm not sure if this is just part of owning an F-150 or if it's actually a problem others are noticing but here are a few of mine:
- If for some reason I have to slam the brakes, there's a pretty aggressive downshift almost like a clunk but not a clunk
- Truck shudders while idling
- Alarm issue that others have pointed out
- Wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity is spotty at times. The music will cut in and out.
- When I remote start in the afternoon, I'll get in the car with the ventilated seats full blast even if it's 30 F outside
- Double-honk when you get out with the key and the truck is running is going to make me commit murder at some point, don't understand why we can't turn that feature off. I can't imagine there's such a pandemic of people who leave with their car still running that this can't be an option.

Just a few of mine, I'll edit if I think of more.

My truck is back at the dealership for the third time. To date, nothing has been corrected. Give them hell for me as well. My Support Specialist actually said to me: "If anything isn't covered under warranty, I'll talk to my supervisor and see if we can help with the costs at all".... "WRONG ANSWER" I told him.

MY LIST:

FAULT CODES:
  • XM Hardware fault.
  • Vision system camera
  • Private communication network
  • Left mirror heater output
  • Right mirror heater output
  • Battery voltage
  • “Reverse Brake Assist Not Available” error on dash panel
OBSERVATIONS OF OTHER ISSUES I HAVE EXPERIENCED:
  • “Recirculation” on climate control turns off after only a five minutes of operation
  • Air flow through dash vents very poor or non-existent on occasion when both the dash and defrost and/or floor is selected.
  • Body panel fitment: Tailgate when closed protrudes from the rear quarter panels at outer edges. Hood gap, passenger side towards cowl. Rear passenger door.
  • Rear bumper not centered between rear quarter panels.
  • Engine makes excessive noise intermittently, a growling rough sound when accelerating. Other times the engine is smooth and quiet.
  • Performance seems to be affected intermittently, does not accelerate as quickly and does not appear to build much turbo pressure randomly. Typically observed when the engine is making excessive noise.
  • Lane departure system has failed randomly.
  • Center 12” screen gets excessively hot on occasion; have measured at over 123 degrees with a thermal-imaging camera that I own for my profession.
  • Center console lid does not stay in the open and upright position; very annoying to have the armrest lid fall on your arm as you are reaching in.
  • Digital speedometer and dial gauge speedo are 1 – 2 mph off from one another when over 50 mph.
  • Center screen icons went all black randomly.
  • Experience multiple hard upshifts and downshifts. When accelerating or decelerating normally.
  • Rust on the rear axle since brand-new
  • Burning plastic smell coming from the climate control system.
  • When approaching or just standing around the truck, loud “clicks” occur. Sometimes this occurs just a few times, other occasions it persists. This has also occurred when just sitting in the truck with the ignition off. An absolute annoyance and I do not understand why this truck makes these sounds. The sound is similar to solenoids activating.

Great ..... its weird because I was reading your issues and I have literally had half of them. I just kinda excepted the air flow and rescyle air flow thing but it does bug me and it looks like we have more than one complaint on this issue.

I'll have a list together ill pick out some hot topics and try and squeeze in other issues.

On another note what do you like about the truck?

Have you changed your setting to auto climate in the remote start option? I believe you can turn it off and on maybe the seats will not come one. You can also have it as last setting.

Here are my lists. I will bring them up if I get an opportunity to I participate in a later session as well.

Bugs to fix:
- the random alarm triggers - MY NEIGHBORS HAVE BEEN PATIENT ENOUGH!
- the random trailer reverse assist errors when no trailer connected
- 360 cameras & auto running boards disengage or are disabled well before 5MPH - ideal would be >= 5MPH. I have to slow to a crawl (1-2 MPH to engage 360 cameras to assist with parking in my driveway. I also have to toggle the 360 view back on each time I go to D while parking lot maneuvering.
- Auto running boards retract, then immediately extend (go up, then back down) if you lock the truck with the button and have proximity detection enabled. The proximity should not engage until I leave the area.
- random temperature issues. Things like not blowing heat when set (driving or parked), blowing heat on one side and cool on the other (even with dual mode disabled), etc.

Enhancements I would like to see:
- 360 cameras remain enabled when switching from R to D (not auto off until a sensor triggers) to parking lot maneuvering. My wife’s G80 does this and it is nice.
- A way to blank out gauge display when running in generator mode like the SYNC4 can - I want a full “off“ on all displays to make it appear not running when acting as a generator.

Dude please slam them for the alarm going off at random hours and worst of all the motion sensors automatically turn back on after a few drives so it continues to happen. LOL

But, most of all: lead with “Thank you for having this forum!”. Also thank them for creating a vehicle that supports OTA, and utilizing that capability to both correct and enhance our trucks.

The SYNC4 systems are a huge step, and Ford is doing it right by following the Tesla model of long term support and upgrades. I want them to know that having this and seeing them act on it was a huge factor in my trusting this level of technological jump in a new generation vehicle.

- Auto Start Stop a true "On/Off" (not reset every time the truck gets turned off).
- Automatically remember what mode you were last driving in.
- Cameras should be accessible at speeds faster than 5mph
- Bed Camera should automatically turn on when pressing camera button over speed limit for the 360 cam, want to see how tie downs etc are behaving while on highway.
- How long is the heated steering wheel supposed to stay warm?
- Cellphone holder in console cubby is useless, really wanted that to work.
- Is there a way to lower the air dam manually while not driving?

Fairly nit-picky but overall I love this truck.

I will check on this again but currently have it as auto climate. Might just have to turn it off for now.

We all know they are going to say its a safety issue to look at anything other than the road over 5mph, but I get it.

Why would you want to lower the air dam?

The holder is good for business cards...thats about it. It be removed.

I think the wood grain on that cubby and door panels is kinda cheap looking myself?

The last setting is a hot topic, I personally learned to deal with it but again it would be nice if it stayed in the mode last driven in.

Alarm, rust rear end, last driven mode, battery drain, apple/Android problems drain battery wifi ect. Air recycling, central place to find recalls. Auto stop, Diplay getting hot and flickering,

I'll pull it up on my computer so I can read it better but it looks like we have one hell of a start.

Please give me a few What do you likes, again I have mine but maybe there is something you really dig!!!

This is my first f150 , I have had 5 f250/f350s

I love my new truck, but here are a few questions off the top of my head that I would ask:
- why are brand new trucks being delivered with rusty rear axles?
- For God's sake, why are they covering the front stake holes on the bed rails?
- Why isn't adaptive cruise control standard on all trim levels as a safety feature?
- I love the 360 degree camera, but the cutoff speed of 6 mph is ridiculously low and makes the feature nearly worthless; the cutoff speed should be at least double that

I don’t have my PB yet, but based on what I have read on the forum, I am very concerned about this ‘power off’ heating and air issue.

Please emphasize, if anything identified in these interviews can be fixed on the 2021 via ‘over the air’ updates or dealer visit updates, do it. Don’t update the 2022, like we are guinea pigs, and leave the 2021 ‘early adopters’ hanging.
