time to start to get on your dealers case, sometimes they have more information they can pass on
Been there, done that. Even lodged a ticket with Ford Customer Relations and got basically a canned platitude email in response.

Dang - not good. I currently have a build date early April. Guessing that’s not going to hold now
Same here, with a build week of April 5th.

Maybe I am naive, but might this production pause give Ford Engineers more time to resolve its battery leak and undercarriage rust issues?

(I know. Wishful thinking.)

For those trucks built without parts, they are not likely to go back to production line, but rather finalized by a "specialized" team.. It is likely that some truck built at a later date will all of their parts will arrive at the dealer in front of the partially built trucks.

torn on when to order my truck. I don't need it until August/Sept or even as late as October... should I be ordering now with the expectation for delays- or waiting till June for a 2022 order? Would it stand to reason I'd get more manufacturing rebates on a late 2021 delivery than an early 2022 delivery- XLT trim. thanks for the advice.

Ford idles F-150 truck plant through Sunday due to global chip shortage
By Reuters Staff

DETROIT (Reuters) -Ford Motor Co said on Thursday it will idle production of its highly profitable F-150 pickup truck at a plant in Michigan through Sunday due to the global semiconductor chip shortage.

Ford and other automakers have stressed they are trying to protect production of its most profitable vehicles, but the loss of even some full-sized pickups shows the shortage has hit Ford where it least wants.

Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan, plant will be idled from Friday through Sunday, and resume work on Monday. A spokeswoman declined to say how much volume would be lost.

The No. 2 U.S. automaker previously said it would assemble its flagship F-150 truck without certain parts and hold them for a “number of weeks” until they can be completed and shipped.

Ford said the latest action is part of its prior forecast that the chip shortage could shave $1 billion to $2.5 billion off its 2021 profits.

The chip shortage came as North American auto plants were shut for two months during the COVID-19 pandemic last year and chip orders were canceled, and as demand surged from the consumer electronics industry as people worked from home and played video games. That has now left carmakers competing for chips.

Semiconductors are used extensively in cars, including to monitor engine performance, manage steering or automatic windows, and in sensors used in parking and entertainment systems.

On Wednesday, Ford said it would cut output this week of the Transit van at its Kansas City, Missouri, assembly plant due to the shortage. Production of the flagship F-150 pickup at the plant is not affected.

Why do I have a feeling this is why my 3/17 blend / 3/19 production truck went from ETA of 4/10 to my dealer to ETA of 'unknown'. I think this happened to a bunch of 3/15 orders...
Same. My blend date 3/18 to be delivered 4/16 changed to being delivered 4/19 then 4/20... now says to be delivered N/A.

UPDATE!! One finally popped up in inventory about 45 minutes from me that was similiar enough to the one I ordered back in December. I picked it up a few days ago and will be cancelling my order. I am SO HAPPY to finally have a truck in my possession! Only had it a few days before I sent it into the shop but I love it so far. By the looks of it, I am VERY fortunate to of found a 2021 Lariat F150 that had everything I wanted (had to pay a bit extra for things I hadnt ordered such as the better sound system but, I'll take it!). My December order blend date 3/18 has been in production since 3/20. It had a delivery date of 4/16 then 4/19 then 4/20 now N/A. The window sticker is also no longer available.
