When my gen 14 comes in it will be my 5th F series and my 8th Ford. It would have been more if not for 11 years overseas with the Army. My first ford was a 68 Galaxy 500. My first F series was a 1979 gen 6. I remember my dad having some of the earlier generations. Thanks for posting Wolf Man.

Gen 8 then 10 then 12 now 14 with 2 Tundras thrown in along the way. The 2013 Lariat ecoboost was really good, so far the 2021 PB is sweet for sure.

How things have changed! My first F Series was a new 1979, 2WD, $3400 OTD. MSRP was $4800 or so. All the big three were in trouble and practically giving vehicles away. That was the offered price within 10 minutes of walking in the door, even threw in free undercoating. I bought it for cash with my first reenlistment bonus from the Army. As I remember there were no trim packages back then, just options, but not many. AM/FM radio was one, AC another. We thought it was great that power steering and brakes were now standard equipment. LOL Three on the tree was standard and 4 on the floor or an automatic an option. If you would have told me back then all the things we would have in todays F-150 I would have laughed at you.

Great story! That's a killer deal! Man how the times and demand have changed. Assume the average transaction price of a 2021 Ford F-150 is around $65,000. Your deal appeared to net you about 30% off MSRP. Guys today would be getting their rigs for around $42,000!! That's unheard of today! I might of bought two if I could get that deal!!

It was a unique time. Interest rates were sky high. The 1980's were due to hit the lots in a couple weeks. The dealer I went to was the largest in the area and had his lot packed with 1979's he couldn't sell. Almost the opposite of todays market. I got that deal with no dickering, Could have probably got a few hundred more off if I tried.

I remember back when riding in a F150 was like riding in a truck. A couple years ago at work we were heading out for lunch and since there were five of us I offered to drive. Two people hadn't been in a pickup in decades, they couldn't believe the comfort.

Thanks for posting.

Plus the oil embargo raised gas prices through the roof.
