Non issue. Kevlar belt.Belt instead of chain for oil pump in 2021 Ford F-150 5.0. What do you think??
I'm not an expert, but Kevlar isn't anything close to a lifetime material. Vibrations, stress, and impacts cause degradation over time. This is the first I've seen mention of the belt for the oil pump at all though honestly. I wonder what the service interval is?Non issue. Kevlar belt.
It’s not called out as a maintenance item. The 2.7 EcoBoost has used a belt driven oil pump since 2018 and you don’t hear about people changing them.I'm not an expert, but Kevlar isn't anything close to a lifetime material. Isn’t this the engine that just got a recall on oil pump belt last this week? It’s not called out as a maintenance item. The 2.7 EcoBoost has used a belt driven oil pump since 2018 and you don’t hear about people changing them.
Not to my knowledge. The 1.0 got the recall, and articles mention that the NHTSA was investigating catastrophic failures in the 2.7. Those failures were due to a cheaper alloy being used in the valves causing them to become brittle and break, grenading the engine.Isn’t this the engine that just got a recall on oil pump belt last this week?
Oh so that wasn’t even a belt issue. If the belts on those are holding up that’s good because I believe those have been out a while. Not to my knowledge.
