not saying this is true or false, but the conversation has merit
my dealer called me yesterday about an edge i was looking at to replace my wifes edge
we got to BS ing about the lighting the insane dealer markups, a plat lighting at a nearby dealer is marked up to 124k
he told me ford wants to split to sole EV dealers, which we all know. but the associated cost to franchise and be certified is over 1.5 million all in.
they dictate a certain number of charge stations , i think he said 10. plus to certify the shop and techs was another 500k or more. new signs and a dedicated lot and building for just the electric vehicles. I asked how they would do the lincolns EV and he said all EV would be under the new brand .
i found it very weird and thought ford is going to price out a lot of small mom and pop dealers like we have around here, if the numbers were correct
