Flood and Grainger Ford ESP- Premium Care, what's covered?

Sorry, I'm pretty unfamiliar. Is labor covered? Anyone have experience actually using these ESPs? I saw the one at flood for 10yr 60miles was like 1350. Not too bad considering what an IWE or camphaser costs. Does this cover exterior paint? I saw the weird exception for light bulbs and figured I should ask here.

Is it worth getting? I only have 800 miles and 4 months on the truck. I feel like it's a layer of insurance, and insurance generally benefits the insurers.

I guess I don't anticipate problems with my 2.7 4wd XLT, but undeniably 2022 is a rough time for Ford builds. The only mods are the blocks were removed.

You're correct, it's just like insurance. To me, the ESP provides me with piece of mind knowing I dont have to worry about costly repairs until after I reach 125k miles.

Rental car reimbursement is available with a Ford Protect, but you won't always walk away with a rental as soon as you drop off your vehicle, unless you opted for the FIRST DAY RENTAL coverage (Its a cheap add-on for $15). Covers 10 days @ $35.
There is Enhanced Rental which covers $60 a day for 10 days.

If you didn't opt for first day rental, and your dealer gives you a rental as soon as you drop off the repair vehicle, that's a specific perk to your dealer.

Parts and labor are covered with your Ford Protect ESP. Depending on what plan you chose, and your deductible (0,50,100,200).

There is a seperate "LIGHTING OPTION" for $35 (from Zeigler). If you elected to purchase Interior/Exterior Lighting with PremiumCare ESP coverage, you will have coverage for electrical failures on incandescent bulbs, halogen bulbs, high intensity discharge (HID) and LED lamp assemblies. Your chosen deductible of $0, $50, $100 or $200 applies on lighting services the same as for other covered service warranty repairs.

I got mine at Zeigler. You might do a quote from them and see how prices compare.

Attached FYI is a redacted copy of my complete contract for your reading / study enjoyment. Read Every Word Carefully! You'll see that the PremiumCare contract does not list what IS COVERED, it lists what IS NOT COVERED.

IMO it is very comprehensive coverage, but it is NOT the same as your 36-month OE B-to-B coverage.

Note the date of this form, anything might have changed in a later revision (note the 'no penalty refund period' for you to examine your actual contract and 'opt out' if you don't like what you read).

I did NOT take rental coverage because I have better through other sources. I DID take the Full Lighting coverage and Key / Fob coverage.

At the end of my 10-years / 125,000 miles I'll be perfectly happy if I have never made a claim. I expect to get there, note I still own a bought-new 2005 F150.

I have never in my life bought any extended warranty program...until now. I stepped back and thought about how much a modern day vehicle is becoming a technical piece of equipment, no longer just nuts and bolts. If the rear view camera takes a header, it could easily be $1k to$1500 bucks in the snap of a finger. Some sensors, a wiring harness, a computer costing thousands? Crazy. What are the odds that you won't use greater than the cost over a ten year period? Almost nil. And of course, these things always happen when you aren't swimming in cash. I will mention, and you know yourself better than I obviously, but 6k miles a year is a very low bar? You sure you won't clock more than 60k in a much shorter timeframe? Take care you don't pay for years of benefit you never will be able to use, I would error on the safe side. Otherwise it seems like a no brainer...

Yeah I have a mustang and CX30 as well. But the real thing is everything around me is so close, I usually take a bike to avoid putting the engines threw short trips. I love right on a super nice bike highway and can take that to the gym and smaller errands. I probably bike every bit of 2500 a year. More than that, I wfh, so the CX30 is the only car really getting miles on it with my wife. Even then, it's only got 36k in 3.5 years.
