Set a reminder for 11am EST on February 3 because we’re finally going to meet the all-new 2021 Raptor!

Not much to report, folks, but some very exciting news coming out of the motor city today. The Blue Oval confirmed with us here at Ford Truck Enthusiasts that Ford Performance plans to unveil its next-generation 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor on Wednesday, February 3 at 11am EST. As Ford’s offroad baddy heads into its third generation, enthusiasts everywhere have been speculating whether or not Ford would stick with a High Output version of the twin-turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost. Or if they would jump into an arms race with RAM by dropping in a 700+ horsepower version of the Shelby GT500’s supercharged 5.2L “Predator” motor.

Car and Driver recently reported that the Raptor will offer BOTH, with an upgraded 3.5L EcoBoost acting as the “base” engine and the Predator coming in the form of a limited production “Raptor R.” This follows reporting from The Fastlane Truck saying the new Raptor will have a V8 as well as a hybrid version of the 3.5L EcoBoost inspired by the Lincoln Aviator.

I guess we’ll find out in a week. But regardless, with the 2021 F-150 PowerBoost out-accelerating the 2020 Raptor, it’s clear the new Raptor needs to climb back to the top of the F-150 power rankings. As a reminder, the previous generation 3.5L EcoBoost H.O. pumped out 450 horsepower and 510 lb. -ft. of torque, while the Lincoln Aviator hybrid system boasts 494 horsepower and 630 lb.-ft of torque.

Either way, we should expect Ford to top themselves. I just hope the rumors are true about the V8. The EcoBoost is amazing for all of its torque and acceleration, but there’s nothing quite like hearing an American V8 screaming from under the hood of your Ford truck.

Any estimates on when we'll actually be able to order one?
