I own a 2020, so not quite apples-to-apples... FX4 s-crew 5.0.... 20" wheels... I average about 15 around town; which for me is mostly 35 mph country roads with constant hills and lots of stop signs. On the highway I can get 20, sometimes 21 on long trips. I usually disable auto stop-start because I come from the old days when they said the worst thing you can do to an engine is always be stopping and starting it, and I want to keep this truck a long time. I have also found Eco mode to make little difference.
This is all within 1-2 mpg of what I was getting on a 2017 v6 Explorer AWD, so "good trade". But my 2019 Bullitt gets a little better than the truck.

Also the area you live in may play a factor. Here in the Seattle area there is a lot of steep hills and stop & go traffic. Unlike areas in the mid US where it’s mostly flat and rural.

I have a 6” lift and 35x20’s in a 5.0L with 3.73’s and get about 15mpg city/HWY

About 4 hr drive to France, kept around 65mph. 4 people, bed loaded with luggage, standard mode. Got 23.8 on the computer when I parked, got to 24 briefly. Great highway engine. No issues passing those towing with sedans 🤣

To make y’all feel better. I’m a averaging 12-14 in my powerboost hybrid. But that’s because it’s lifted on 35s and 22x10 wheels. Really killed my mpg

When I drove home from the dealer—175 miles, I did not reset the trip odometer. Before I left it was showing 9mpg, when I got home it was showing 22mpg. Daily driving some stop and go, some Highway averaging 18-19

Crossed over 5K miles a few weeks ago. sitting at 15.5 MPG. 95% city driving, always turn off the start/stop feature.

I did just get back from ford nationals 2 weeks ago after towing my fathers mustang down. 640 miles round trip in tow/haul mode, I averaged 15.5 MPG cruising around 70. Thought that was pretty interesting.

After 10K on my 2021 RCSB 5.0 I'm averaging 20.1

But... if I'm REALLY nice to her she'll pull 28+

But the Coyote just keeps calling me! ...it's just too damn much fun.

I've now had this truck for 4 months.
The very best average mileage I've gotten is
16.0- Miles a gallon. I mean that's the best..
That's highway doing the speed limit
with cruise control set.
For the most part I average around
14.5 MPG combined city and highway.
Do I have a problem??
Trying to find out what others driving a V-8 are getting?
I did have an O/2 sensor go out at 800 miles,
So do I have another problem?
Appreciate any feed back I can get..
Thanks.....
Sounds like ur cats failed during break in.

I've tracked every tank since I got the truck in November on Fuelly.com. With the high gas prices here, I've changed my drive to work for the last couple months. I stopped using a 3 lane highway where cylinder deactivation hardly ever kicked in (driving around 120 km/h or 75 mph) , and changed to a 2 lane slower road (driving around 95 km/h or 60 mph). I'm running on 4 cylinders much of the drive now, and have seen an improvement. Also using ECO mode consistently. Getting just over 20mpg lately, or 11.5 L/100km. My fill-up data is below. Not sure what else I could do to get it much better at this point.

Picked up my truck 12 days ago. Already put 1,800 kms or 1,100 miles on it.

I've been fairly easy on the pedal and hop into ECO mode when doing City driving, which is most of the time.

So far, averaging approximately 12L/100km or 19.5mpg.

Pleased with this, my previous Lariat Leveled 3.5 with heavy A/T tires was getting 15L/100km or 15.5mpg.

Not sure I've seen that.
All I've seen for restting is journey 1&2
Thanks
Yours says "Journey 1" and "Journey 2"? Ours all say "Trip 1" and "Trip 2". Some folks with the hybrid power train are seeing your types of numbers so I wouldn't be surprised to see them in a 5.0. Personal opinion is Ford uses some injectors and coils that have a high percentage of failures. Keep in mind that half a million trucks means over 3 million coils and over six million injectors so even a hundred ppm defect rate would leave a lot of bad parts to be built into trucks. If you get a truck built with bad injectors/weak coils it's not going to run right but if it doesn't throw a code, you are SOL because Ford won't pay to have a tech troubleshoot for low mpg and the dealer isn't going to absorb the cost.

I've had mine for almost a year and 8,000 miles now, here is where I've settled in:

Typical Driving:
17mpg City / 24 Highway - Average tank to tank 18

A-Typical Driving:
Long Trip (staying under 70mph): 26mpg
Pushing it (adaptive cruise behind a Semi at around 60 for a 100-mile trip): 29mpg

With my typical driving.... better mileage than my wife's old Camry and better mileage than the 2011 Escape I moved from... all in a far more comfortable, capable, and powerful vehicle. I'm very happy, even though gas prices are painful now (we're almost 6/gal here). Fortunately, I only need to fill up about once a month excluding out-of-town trips.

After a long trip to South France, I found that I take a roughly 3 mpg hit going from 65mph to 80mph. With gas being 2.20 Euro/liter, do the math :D

This is the hand calculated, not computer:

At home, it's 99% city driving. And that is 14-16mpg depending on how many traffic lights and how many times start-stop decides to turn on (usually doesn't).
