Sorry to hear that. If you have not done it already, you should contact Ford customer service. No guarantee it will speed things up but they might compensate you in someway for your trouble. Also, they will hopefully be able to keep you informed on the backlog and timing.
That's the plan. I was filing a claim for the time my AC wasn't working properly, but that was handled pretty quickly, so didn't end up following through. Sounds like it is needed this time. Mine also has a powertrain malfunction where they have ordered a starter and something else (forgot what it was), but both of those are on back order too with no release dates.

Update: parts came in, so truck went in today to have the heat exchanger replaced. Get it back tomorrow.

Hopefully the days of having to wait weeks for the repair parts to come in are ending.

Re: the megathread.

Does anybody know which of the 94 pages (and counting!) the information might be on regarding common time windows?

Also has there been anything definitive to suggest this is actually fixed and not just a ticking time-bomb?

Thanks guys!

The replacement tube(s) should readily be available to address the leak. I would expect some dealerships to have a couple on the shelf.

They are $5 each and I imagine the technician will change both out regardless of which one is the leaker. (circled in red)

That simple. ugh. Reminds me of the chevy 3.8 water pump elbows. Exact same problem and fix!

Thanks!

We have members with these tubes in their toolbox, me included.
We even have one fella that changed his in the driveway without removing the section from the exhaust.

The unfortunate fellas that experienced the early leaks had to deal with the fact that the individual tubes were not even available, so the whole exhaust section you see pictured above had to be replaced. And some loooong waits. It was painful.

It appears once Ford identified the tubes were the most common reason for the leak, they wisely made them something you could purchase separately. So the cost dropped from ~$800(?) to ~$10, as well as the logistics eventually got ironed out.

I can see no legitimate reason for this to be a painful warranty claim in cost or time at this point. Should barely take longer than an oil change, and actually cost Ford less than the oil.

As I keep reading, it seems like the elbows are solved but there remains a valve failure in these. How is that being addressed?

Thanks!

If the servo misbehaves, it's not a serviceable item. So you need the whole exchanger replaced.

Yes sir. My question is this: Is that too a problem area, and is so, has it's design been corrected to a more reliable state? Seems like I read something saying '22's and on seemed to not be hacing issues, but then perhaps it's just a question of time...

Thanks!

The servo in the exhaust heat exchanger is the same one used in multiple motorcycle exhaust systems by oem's. I don't know if they have a similar fault rate to the Powerboost, but honestly I don't think many Powerboost have had failed servos.

OK, back to scratching that off the worry list. Thanks!

Certainly a truck that justifies extended warranty...
