Does anyone know the meaning of the coding's on the engine?

There's obviously a bunch of stuff on there but what intrigues me is RWD

My mind gravitates to Rear Wheel Drive but it could be anything

Does anyone actually know? 27L RWD P702

Perhaps people could check under their hood and let me know what theirs says?

Thanks Sundancer

Would be interested for others to see if their engine codes also read RWD

Mine is a 4x4 truck, however reading RWD in the motor

Does anyone else have this? The sticker is right at the front and easy to access

Thanks

I think it RWD is the orientation of engine for rear drive vehicles. Otherwise the engine layout would be sideways like in an Edge or Fusion sport.
Correct. There are small differences in the 2.7 for transverse and inline mounting. P702 refers to the F150 program, so it would be dressed according to the trucks needs for RWD/AWD applications.

Thanks

If that is true, then should I be concerned that my 4x4 truck has a RWD labelling?

Or on the other hand are we saying that RWD applies to any vehicle whose 'primary' drive is Rear, regardless of whether its a 4x4 (and therefore 27L's in a, for example, Edge config would read FWD) and as such there is no such thing as a 4WD engine label

Thanks to everyone, I appreciate all the insight

Nothing to worry about. The sticker says its for the truck, and mine is exactly like yours. 4x4 with RWD.

RWD refers more to the way the engine is mounted for RWD vehicles. With the output shaft to the rear.
