So I just bought myself a pair of elephant ears (tow mirrors) and I’m wondering if the zone lighting feature can be enabled on a vehicle that didn’t come with factory zone lighting? I was able to get the turn signals and puddle lamps to work via Forscan, however when I enable zone lighting in the body control module and APIM all it did was add the screen for zone lighting under the features tab on the center stack. I’m assuming this has something to do with the fact that I don’t have the actual hard buttons near my headlight switch, but I wanted to check if I was missing a step or if it was just the hardware itself that’s missing.

My truck is an XL

Pictured is the zone lighting screen that I didn’t have before, however none of the selections work (including the power button)

I just wanted to give a big shout out and thank you to @antho for taking the time and helping me work through this! I now have working spot lights and I couldn’t have done it without his help!

What a great community this is

For anyone who comes across this in the future, I had originally tried to to short cut my way through the coding process by doing the simple version of Forscan (which just had an enable/disable setting), rather than coding the actual values. Totally my mistake since I was intimidated by the Forscan spreadsheet.

In the BCM under 726-84-02, you will want to change a 0 to a 1 in the first block and a 1 to a 0 in the second block. My factory code was 0000 0001 00B4. You will want to make changes xxx1 xxx0 xxxx

So my new code looked like 0001 0000 00B4

Did you purchase OEM tow mirrors and do you have the part number for the mirrors? I would love to do the same. Would I need to run any extra harness for the mirrors?
Thank you!

I did not purchase OEM ones, I just got mine off Amazon

I couldn’t bring myself to spend nearly $1k for a set of OEM’s from the dealership, and these do everything I need them to.

No wiring modification or special harnesses are needed, the previous gen trucks did need an adapter harness on some trim levels. These will just require Forscan to enable all of the features, which for me I enabled the turn signals, puddle lamps and spotlights

They do need a slight trimming of the plastic housing to get it to fit over the rubber window trim. Here is the video I followed that helped show me what needed to be trimmed on the mirror housing (not my video, I was just a grateful viewer)

The install maybe took 30mins per side with all of the trimming so it’s a very straightforward job

Hi guys, can someone please outline all changes to enable zone lighting on a 23 F150? I have a Ford Australia delivered F150 Lariat and due to some compliance issues Ford Australia was required to disable it. I have been able to get the Zone lighting feature back on the Sync 4 but it does not power on. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

How’s it going! That’s awesome that it worked out for you! Are you able to turn on other lights with adding the zone lighting feature? Thanks
