So after 10 Months of owing a 2022 Lariate plagued with Electrical issues I traded it. The First and Last Issue was the Gray screen of No audio, They replaced the Audio Module the Amplifier, the APIM, nothing worked went it got Hot it came back. They also replaced the Headlight switch afer complaing several times about the Headlights come on by themselves. Recalls Wiper motor they did that and the Parking light flicker they didn't want to do that. The Forward Colision Warning never worked, when i asked from the dealer to check it they printed the window sticker and said that it's right here. Got a text from the truck saying that it was shutting down systems due to a Low battery, got the battery replaced. All the time while driving it the Power mirrors might not unfold, the drivers seat would move forward and back and randomly the Parking Brake would apply upon approach and the Dash would rest. I asked the Dealer about calling Ford they replied oh they're no help hard to get a-hold of. The check Engine light came on when I went on a road trip to Maine, went to a dealer, yup we can make an appointment for you looking at three weeks, or take it down the street to O'Riely see what they can do. O'Reily DID Help they said that it was the turbo wastegate not a hard code so I could drive it home. Twelve visits in ten months some not so good like when a soft drink was spilled onto the passenger seat, didn't notice it until my wife sat in it the next day ( Saturday) I called up the Service Manager and his response was that it was his day off call him back on Monday and he would take care of it. After a whole bunch of Modules replaced in the das the right side A/C vent no longer worked. Then I found the Ford Repurchase Phone number, The first person screwed up the dealers, and the state HAD my FLORIDA address somehow though that I was in California and could not find any repair records, the second person said that someone else would take it over and help. Then it got HOT ya Florida, No Audio and NO AIR CONDITIONING it just turned off, and turned on the HEATED SEATS. Its 91* and it keeps happening. What to do? So Traded out the truck andThe next business day Ford called and Said where's your truck? With Much Attidude she said well you Screwed Up cause I could have helped you Goodby. I screwed up Buying a Ford. Ford Knows where your truck is, Ford and they're Dealers let me Down and now I'm done.

That's why I'm waiting for the 2024 model. Give Ford another year to work through these issues.

People are paying $70K+ and your answer to broken trucks, poor service centers and bad quality is "wait until '24"?

There is a thread on here with 600+ pages 10,000 comments because FORD doesn't know how to fix OTAs? Not only did people pay $70K for these trucks now they have to pay $800 and 8 hours of THIER TIME because Ford is incompetent, that won't be fixed in '24

lol 2024 will be new electronics and screen hardware. The body and stuff will likely be the same but all new screens and processors from my understanding. Good luck with the belief that’s going to have less bugs than a 22 :ROFLMAO:.They all have issues regardless of brand.

I hate that you had theses issues but for every Ford that has this many issues, I can show you a Toyota, Dodge, Chevy, Nissan, Rivian, Tesla or any other make of truck that has the same thing. It’s the nature of the beast when you have so many electronics in these vehicles today. Ford does need a better process for the OTA’s and eventually I’m sure they will. I’m not saying stay with Ford but, just saying that it can happen to any make or model.

I agree with both of you 100%. A visit to any other forum and there are handfuls of people with lemons. I had one with a 2019 Silverado. I've owned a lot of hondas that have been issue free and yet there are people with issues with honda/acura products when perusing forums. It happens. There are at least two members of this forum that dropped their F150s for GM trucks and yet I came here after buying my first Ford after being a GM truck/SUV owner for years. Use lemon laws, flip vehicles with issues, or wait and buy something used that you have access to the history.

Yes, that's my answer. Better them than me - I'd rather not be the guinea pig for major refreshes. I consider the 2024 a minor refresh.

2021 to 2023 model years for any manufacturer is more likely to be a lemon due to supply constraints from the pandemic and the rush to get vehicles to dealer lots.

Subsequent model years of a new cab/refresh tend to be more reliable as manufacturers work the bugs out in the first 1-3 years.

I'm actually not that concerned about the screen hardware. It's like a computer monitor or TV screen. If they move to a open source widely used operating system such as Android Auto, there should be well established compatibility with a wide variety of screens. Also, the 'new" processors are probably going to be re-purposed mobile consumer processors that have already been proofed out at a hardware and firmware level.

The good thing about the internet is that every brand has one of these forums, and people with problems with their vehicles will always jump on here either just to complain or to seek assistance (or maybe both). It's human nature. People never get home from a vacation, go to the forum, any type, "My truck ran like it should today. Nothing messed up." So, for every 1 problem vehicle we see on here, there are thousands without that issue.

The good news is, to the OP, you have another forum for another brand. You're done with Ford, so now you can find another forum for the brand you choose. Hopefully you are one that never has to post there - you've been through enough - but rest assured, there will be others owning that brand that have similar issues to what you went through. It would be nice if nobody ever had issues... Good luck, and fare well.

Tell that to all the 2018-2020 3.5 EcoBoost and 5.0 owners who have been through 15 timing sets and have to carry a gallon of oil with them so they don’t run dry. Yeah, Ford has a great history with minor refreshes…

My understanding is that the 2021 model is a minor refresh from a powertrain perspective. (The 2021 cab is certainly a major refresh). It appears the 2021+ 3.5 EcoBoost and 5.0 have less issues.

So what's the alternate hypothesis?

1. Newer cars are less reliable? A 2023 F150 will be less reliable than a 2021?
2. That major refreshes are more reliable than minor refreshes?

I’m trying to have a sense of humor about a no start and IWE grinding issue first week of ownership. One more issue within the break in period and maybe I’ll order SHP QWN vanity plates? I certainly can’t afford to take a loss on this thing.

Really, though, manufacturers can largely address this by prioritizing parts for repairs ahead of manufacturing and providing incentives for dealers to really up their game. It also wouldn’t hurt to dole out good will complimentary extended warranties like candy, given the massive price hikes, service / supply chain headaches, and such.

Perfection is not achievable… customer service most definitely is.
