I have a 22 PB built 8/11 (delivered 12/30) and have just over 1k miles. My PB is super quiet. I can hear a VERY slight electrical whine when in a closed area in our parking garage at work if my window is down. We've had 3 prior Ford hybrids and that's the same type noise my PB produces.

Yup the straight cut gears in the trans aux pump is what’s causing the whine. I notice it more when the trans is at operating temp and at low speeds.

My 2018 has a very low whine at idle. Picked up a 2023 and it’s noticeably louder. Mainly at normal temp and idle. Loud enough that you hear it over the pipes. Kinda frustrating they haven’t figured this out or at least use some type of noise dampening like GM….

Sounds like nothing can be done?

My 2022 Platinum Powerboost has this same noise (whine). Undulates with RPMs. Currently at the dealership for it.

You might be disappointed to learn that Ford has given the dealers a get out of jail free card for transmission whine.

SSM 51419 2017-2023 Various Vehicles – 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 Transmissions – Whine Noise From Bellhousing/Front Of Fluid Pan At Idle And/Or While Driving
Some 2017-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmission may exhibit a whine noise at idle and/or while driving. This may be identified as coming from the bellhousing and the front of the transmission fluid pan. The whine noise may become louder when the transmission is at operating temperature and may increase with engine revolutions per minute (RPM) in the park (P) position. A small amount of whine noise is considered to be characteristic of the 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmissions due to the offset gear drivetrain in the front support and has no effect on durability.

I’m curious if anyone with an aftermarket transmission skid plate noticed any reduction in the whine? I love my 22 5.0 stx, with my only complaint being the whine that undulates with shifting. I even have a Borla s type exhaust and the whine is still noticeable.
I was thinking of adding an aftermarket skid plate and lining it with sound deadening to lessen it, thoughts?

I have a 2.7L 2022 Lariat that has a whine that I can hear at about 40mph and peaks at about 55mph. The engine is absolutely devoid of this whine while in park and at the same rpms. When I'm at 55mph and about 1400rpm I can feather the accelerator to make the noise come and go. Letting off the accelerator instantly causes the noise to go away before any change in speed occurs. Was told buy the dealer that the problem is inherent in the 2.7L engine and that there is nothing that they can do about it. Really worried that this is a transmission issue and down the line I'm going to have expensive transmission problems to deal with.

This is additional info that I just wanted to add to the above:

I had adaptive cruise control on and was following someone doing a steady speed of about 60 mph. I manually down shifted using the buttons on the shifter and my rpms went up, but the pitch of the whine didn't change. I thought this was interesting, since I was thinking this is possibly a transmission issue. The one thing I didn't notice is whether the turbo load changed. Will have to try this again and monitor turbo gauge.

Hey there! Can you please send me a DM with your VIN and dealer name/location so I can look into this engine whine concerns for you? I'd be happy to see what I can do to assist!

I already have DM with this information and haven't had a response/resolution to what I'm hearing.

Mine has the whine too. 2021 5.0L
Most noticeable when the noise can bounce off your surroundings, like in the drive through, up close to a wall etc.

Mine has the whine also. I like it however, as it sounds like it has a supercharger ;)
